Hey, so I called Thomas Paul the other day after months of doing research and looking at everyone's photo style, etc and he is booked for my day! But he told me that his 'next best guy' is open and that his work is just as good as his. I am going to met with him so I can see this guy's albums and I do trust that he has to be up to Tom's standards for him to even suggest this. Has anyone else run into a situation like this? I'm sure his work is good, it just s u c k s that I finally decided that I wanted TP and I will not actually have him. Any advice??

I had the same problem did he tell you the guys name? Is it David? Thats who were booking with even though we have never meet with David I trust him that he wouldn't give us a bad photographer Also he said that David would be there for our epics so we would meet him before the wedding day so no surprises!

I don't think he'd employ anyone who didn't share the same creative vision as him!

yup, thats exactly what he said to me. Did you see David's pic's?? I hope he's as easy to get along with as Tom. Did you book them?

I am a TP bride and when we met with him he said that he's actually fired photographers who worked with him because they strayed too far from the company's vision. those werent his exact words, but what he was saying is that his associates have to be up to his standards or they go bye bye.
I saw David's work in a few of the albums and he's great. Every album we saw was fabulous. I understand why you're bummed, but honestly, all of the company's photographers are amazing.

Go with your gut! Definitely meet with the 'next best guy.' I was originally with another company, which I loved, but I couldn't have the guy who ran the studio. I went with #2....and ended up having doubts. I never got to meet with guy #2 but saw his work and knew it wasn't totally for me. In the end I finally got what I wanted when it turned out my top choice (a different studio) was finally available. I think in my case, I knew I was settling.
Definitely spend time with him, get to know him and really check out his work! Good luck!!!

i've heard wonderful things about david...and i'm sure if u meet with him he'll go over everything with you and show you plenty of his work. Did u also request colleen as ur second photographer???

I have Colleen as our second photographer - how was she? one of the references that I called had her and said he was great.

He told me that David works with Brian and I saw Davids work and it was just as good as Tom's. I haven't actually meet with David but I know Tom won't let me down!!

I booked a long time ago, so Tom was available for my date. I'm not sure if Dave's my second photographer, I think he is! I'll know next Saturday- LOL!!

Tom wasn't available for my day either, so we have Jon and David. He made sure when I met with him that I was comfortable with their work. And honestly, I couldn't tell the difference. Def meet with him, and I'm pretty sure after you meet with him, you'll feel 100% comfortable with the photog he assigns you.
