Traditional or Airbrush Makeup?

Traditional or Airbrush Makeup?

Which one are you doing? What exactly is Airbrush? I have pretty good skin, so I am not sure if I need Airbrush...Any advice?

they put foundation in this spray gun and apply the foundation that way. Its only used for foundation, the rest such as eye make up and blush too is all regular make up.

Its also not just for bad skin, just gives it a different look when applied and supposed to last longer. Its up to you though everyone has their own preferences. I did airbrush

Hmmm good to know. Maybe I'll do a trial with both Traditional and Airbrush and see which I like better. Thanks!!!

Im doing airbrush ... its excellent.. it covered absolutley every and any imperfection I had on my face... it looked completey flaweless ... I was amazed and it stayed on for a long time.. I had to scrub my face after my trail... but everyone was telling me that my face looked beautiful. I think it also comes out better in pics ... I did it for my epics and my skin looks great as opposed to when I did my other shoot and did regular makeup.. you can tell the difference. Or at least I can!

I would do a trial with both and see what you prefer

Also with airbrush it's only one color, no blending or anything to cover imperfections. If you have any imperfections, it's easier to camoflauge it with traditional make up.

not true, i had a HORRIBLE break out 2 days before my wedding that i thought would never get covered up and it was covered up COMPLETELY you couldnt even tell i had a huge break out. And they can blend, they did with me, i even have pics of it lol. But they can incorporate regular make up and airbrush and infact most do. They can do a base under the eyes, and also on my pimples she put this cream on and then put the airbrush on. Its known that airbrush is great for covering up break outs. Ill post pics to show it in a few mins

for epics i had ONE pimple and had regular make up and couldnt be covered. Camouflaged it a bit but it was noticeable.

I had a trial with both and the traditional on me looked better. You can see my it in my album. The airbrush was almost like a mask on me.

Don't mind the horrible first pics lol

but in the pics you can see she is using concealer with a sponge to mix in color and to cover pimples and also i guess she used powder, i didnt know lol

you can only see one pimple on my chin in the first pic but as you can tell it was pretty bad, i also had on my left cheek

then last pics you can see it covered it up

Personally you won't know which is better because everyone has different skin! You should do a trial for each one then decide.

I used airbrush and it lasted all day. Pics in my album. You should try both and see what works best for you.

Re: Traditional or Airbrush Makeup?

i have done both. i don't have any major issues with my skin so i was hesitant to get airbrush because many people had said 'it's very heavy, looks unnatural up close'... so i figured, 'great, i don't wanna look like i'm wearing some sorta plasti-mask!' well, i went for 3 different traditional makeup trials and they were all fine. i didn't LOVE them, i felt a little greasy, and the makeup did move a bit throughout the day. SO... then i went for airbrush. i can't begin to RAVE. it was awesome! it was light, it felt like my skin, there was no filmy gross feeling. and she used a little powder, etc over it...the airbrush part is really just for the foundation. however, the foundation doesn't rub or cry off, so you can pat a little powder, just like you would regular MU an it's fine. plus mine lasted over 12 hours and didn't shift or move. and i used one rice paper blotter at the halfway, 6 hour mark and it was just gorgeous the whole day. needless to say, i chose airbrush!! marie katz is my mu artist. pics in my album. but definitely, do both trials if you can afford it, etc just so you can decide for yourself!! good luck! :o)

Re: Traditional or Airbrush Makeup?

I prefer airbrush over traditional, mainly because it's the closest to my daily routine...which sounds odd, but believe me.

Since I have probably the world's worst skin, I use a concealer stick, then liquid foundation over my entire face, then bare minerals foundation on top of that to 'airbrush' the imperfections, then blush, bronzer, etc. So traditional just doesn't cover it for me...and airbrush mimics the bare minerals hazy effect pretty well, so that's what I'm going with.

Re: Traditional or Airbrush Makeup?

My makeup person told me that airbrush if for a quick application - like runway makeup and that it won't hold because it can't be oil free and be sprayable - if that makes sense.

I had my makeup airbrushed for my sister's wedding and I think it held well - but my face never gets very greasy.

My makeup person did traditional and I would say it was easily one of the hottest days of the year when I got my makeup trial and I am a crazy person and intentionally cooked a massive meal - stove on - after I had my trial and that lasted VERY well.

I guess my end results show I have nothing worthwhile to contribute though, as my results are pretty similar for both.

Absolutely LOVE Airbrush! I usually don't wear a lot of makeup and hate regular foundation, I use bare minerals everyday since it's just like powder and before I started using that I only used translucent powder. In anycase, I can't stand foundation and I totally loved the airbrush makeup, not only was it light, it really covered well and didn't feel like I had makeup on. The day of my trial it was like 10pm (had the trial in the morning) and I was sad to wash it off because it still looked great!

ETA: pics from my trial are in my album.

Re: Traditional or Airbrush Makeup?

So, I've had both. What I am going to say probably won't surprise you. I think non-airbrush makeup artists try to sell you on traditional makeup because that is all they do. They probably say things they actually believe. In my experience both work really well. I tend to get shiny but it depends a lot on the type of makeup. For example, mineral makeup on me looks terrible and photographs even worse but looks amazing in person. I've only had that done traditionally.

I've had really great experiences with both types but I would pay more for the airbrush. I personally feel airbrush photographs better.
