Traffic conditions on the LIE

Traffic conditions on the LIE

We're planning the bachelorette party trip to Vegas but my sister has an exam at Stony Brook that day. The flight's at 12:10pm and she leaves school at 10am. She's approximating 1 hour to JFK in which case she's fine.....BUT....that's if there's no traffic.

Anyone know what the traffic conditions are like on the LIE/Southern State (westbound) on Fridays at 10am?

Thanks!

Traffic conditions on the LIE

Hi,
I go to SB also every morning from exit 51. Actually I just traveled on the LIE this morning at 10am to get to my test and the westbound lane was pretty empty. I think that she'll be ok but just as a precaution, she should try to take the test a little earlier in the morning. The teacher will probably be accommodating if she knows she needs to take a plane. Have fun in Vegas!

I grew up near Stonybrook and unless Murphy's Law kicks in and there are accidents on BOTH the LIE and the Southern State, she should be behind the last of the rush hour traffic and should be okay. Have fun. Wish I were going to Vegas. Actually, wish I was still in college......

i too was going to say see if she can take the test a little early cuz don't you need to be at the airport 2 hrs ahead these days??

i would think the am traffic would be pretty cleared up by then, but who can take that chance, with the possibility of accidents and all. Maybe her prof. would be flexible with letting her take the exam on an earlier day, or start it earlier that morning? good luck, have fun, I would love to go to Vegas!

With the whole airport check-in waiting thing, and on top of that trafffic, it is cutting it close. What are the other options...can she take the next flight?

I used to work at JFK and came from Greenlaw...it was 35 miles...(Stoneybrook is probably another 10-20)

I would leave at this time everyday at 5 minutes to 10 and I would pull into the employee parking lot (right across from long term parking) at 10:35. Then with the bus I would get to the terminal by 10:45...

Just a hint...some airlines let you print your boarding passes from your computer...you can check in upto 24 hours before the flight...so you could do this the night before and then only have to worry about getting through security...

good luck
