So, how did people do with the strike today? DH had to go to work in Manhattan. I'm fortunate in that I work for a city agency and walked to another location about 10 minutes from my house. Guess I'll hear horror stories from him tonight. It looks bad.

Re: Transit Strike
there are several threads about the strike on BHB. it's insanity for commuters. my heart goes out to them... they are the real victims here!

Re: Transit Strike
I hear you. I'm not the best sympathizer for the transit workers, since I'm really anti-union in general. In my (and my family's) experience, they can hurt workers more than they help, but this is just my opinion.
The last plan the MTA offered didn't sound too bad to me, unless there were details that were not revealed. Raises weren't that high, but no one is getting much these days, in any field. Also, most of the staff do not need advanced education degrees. I know social workers who earn less than some of the TW's, and they need master's degrees!

!
I completely agree with you- My dad was on strike with his union and his bosses were so pissed he was loyal to them, they fired him. The unions never take the individual workers into account. Now as a teacher, I sorta haveta be in the union but my district hasnt been on strike for decades....but if it did, i dont know what i'd do

IMO, the unions don't give a rat's 'you know what' about the average Joe!
