Are you providing limo or other professional transportation for FH and your's families?
Because, I'm lost on what to do. Here's why:
We're looking into limos and two 10-passenger limos would provide more than enough room for the bridal party and keep us separate.
However...
My (Bride's) parents are out near Ronkonkoma, with the ceremony and RH in Douglaston Manor Queens.
FH's Mother (husband, siblings he grew up with) will be likely staying either in Massapequa or Jackson Heights. For them to come to Ronkonkoma is crazy, given the venue is in Queens. It's a much shorter ride for them to go straight to the venue.
FH's father (very uninvolved, but courtesy dictates a ride if mother gets it right?) will be staying in Yonkers.
So given that, do get get a limo or otherwise about 10-12 passanger car to drive all over and pick them all up, then drop them home at the end of the night. The cost will more than double our limo estimates, and will take forever.
The Limo would have to start in Ronkonkoma area, go past the venue to Jackson Heights then Yonkers and then double back to the venue. They would all get there quicker if in their own cars.
But I want them to be able to enjoy the night. My mother told me Alcohol's not a worry (her and my father don' drink) and neither does FH's mom. However, the party will go on long after their normal bedtimes, after a long day - so I don't want them being overtired.
My mother has stated she's just concerned about a ride home at the end of the night. (not there).
Any ideas?
Btw, my parents are paying for most of the RH - but everything else FH and I are funding.

Re: Transport for Families
We are not providing any transportation for anyone. Everyone at the wedding is an adult and we expect them to act that way and not get trashed as this is not a frat party. If we see someone that is intoxicated and can not drive we will make sure they get a ride with someone else or we will call them a cab.

My FH and I are thinking of blocking out rooms at a hotel and hiring transportation to and from that hotel only. If people know they don't want to drive at the end of the night, they're more than welcome to stay at the hotel and use the transportation we'll provide from there.

Re: Transport for Families
I've been debating on this too since we are also getting married on site. Unless FH really wants to arrive in a limo with his fam and GM then we may skip it as well. I will definitely then look into a cooperating hotel with a shuttle. I think there is definitely a line between caring about others and going crazy/spending a fortune so if it's not really in your plan to get the limos, then don't. I know, it's a tough choice and it will probably be the very last thing I book!
** Although... Now I'm wondering if it's more about a ride home, maybe you can just get a town car for the one or two parents that need a ride home? That MUST be cheaper and way easier.

Is your hotel nearby? I'm encouraging everyone to stay at the hotel we blocked off rooms at. I hired shuttle service before and after the reception so nobody has to worry about drinking and driving/ finding a way home.

Look into hiring a car for the end of the night. It shouldn't be much more than 100 bucks.

Thank you to everyone who responded!
It seems like a lot of you are doing the same thing i was thinking - our ceremony and reception are both at the RH, so I didn't necessarily count on providing transportation for anyone.
I think it's just my mother who keeps asking me what she's doing for a ride. It's called drive?
If they are really worried about a ride home, I'll consider a small town car just for them. Then they'll have to go get their car the following day.
