Transportation necessary if ceremony and reception at the same place?

Would I still need a limo if my ceremony and reception are back to back at the WM? FH and I were planning to meet there (he'll coming in from Jersey with his family...I'll be getting my hair and makeup done at home in Queens)

i wouldnt get limos unless you really want them. you don't need them...
if you want pictures with an old vintage you might be able to get a deal if you only need it for an hour or so for photos...

Thank you for asking this question because I was wondering the same thing. I'll be getting ready at my moms, which is 20 minutes away from RH and FH will be getting ready at a nearby hotel. I have a shuttle running from the hotel to the place and i was thinking about getting one limo to take me, my mom, stepfather and BM's to the RH.

I've gone over budget in every other area and was hoping to save money here but wasn't sure if it was rude to not provide our BP with a ride home...

My BP is really small, just my sister (and only sibling) and my best friend (who lives 15 minutes away from me). I was going to have the BF drive to my house or sleep over the night before...then have my dad (the family chauffeur) take the 5 of us to the RH in our regular car.

originally i wanted to just drive there in our regular car too. The plan was to get dressed here (my mom wants pictures in the house), take the dress off and drive to the place (ghetto, I know) and then put my dress back on at the RH. none of this was an issue until my mom said she wanted pics here. Now she is telling me to just get a limo for an hour to take everyone there so i din't have to take my dress off.

i don't know... i guess we'll see. I don't see anything wrong with not getting limo's...

hahaha that's exactly what i'm doing. My mom wants pics in the house too. One of the groomsmen drives a bright yellow porshe, so we may just borrow his car for pics and pretend like we drove that there hahaha.

I don't know what to do about limos either. I'm most likely getting ready at the RH, where the ceremony is also. but we are taking pics somewhere else before coming back to RH to take family pics before the ceremony.

i can't decide if i should have a limo or 2 pick my fam up and then FH's fam up and bring to RH and other picture location and then just take the shuttle back to the hotel later with everyone else??

my mom thinks it might be a waste of money! i haven't started looking at limos yet though. do you just pay by the hour or for a few hours? will they take you where ever you need to go (like RH, vanderbilt for pics and back to the RH) and then take you home later for a certain price?

i don't know what to do! i've been stressing over this!!!

Don't stress you have plenty of time to figure this all out!

What you can do to save money is rent a van, from a limo company or car rental place if someone you know is willing to drive. Your family and your bp can take that to do photos and back. It's cheaper than a limo but not as pretty. No one will care though, unless you want a limo for photos.

I'm pretty sure we're doing one limo. All of my BM's are getting ready with me at my parents, which is about 30 minutes from RH. The limo will pick us up at my parents, take us to RH, and then go to the hotel and get FH and GM. This is my plan right now.

We're trying to figure out the same thing. The RH is 5 minutes from my parent's house. The limo company is a little bit cheaper because I only need a pick up and drop off, but it will take me longer to get in and out of the car than to drive there. And, a shuttle runs to the hotel, so that is how we'll get back afterwards. I don't know what to do yet. Ofcourse when I mentioned possible not getting a limo to my mom, she thought I was nuts.

getting a van might be a good idea. thanks!

my other thought was having one limo and then the shuttle bus, that is picking up guests at the hotel. the limo would bring me, my BMs and family to RH, etc. and the shuttle could pick up FH, his GM & family. then we could meet at the other picture location, the shuttle would leave to wait for guests and the limo would stay to take us back to RH. but then i would need the limo again later to take my family home, since they won't have their cars.

I just didn't know if that was too complicated or not! at least i have over a year to figure it out.

we'll both be at the hotel the day of. Prior to the ceremony, we are renting something - a party bus maybe - and going with the entire bridal party and parents to take some pics. Then back to the RH to begin the ceremony.

My sister is getting married at her hall. She is just getting a limo for her and my parents and her girls in the BP just to bring us there. Her FH will get there on his own and everyone else.

yeah, my mom told me not to worry how FH and his GM, family get there and to just worry about us (bride, family & BM!)!!!

Re: Transportation necessary if ceremony and reception at the same place?

I am getting married and having reception at hall. What our plan is this:

We live approx. 2 miles (4 min. drive) away from the catering hall so we are NOT doing limos. It is VERY much a waste for our case. We are doing photographs off site in West Bayshore area so what we have planned is my brother has a luxury van with tv and he never drinks so he will drive us to the photo location and to the reception. Now for when the party is over the people who are staying at the hotel get a ride to the hotel free of charge or the other people have friends/relatives that are at the wedding who will drive them home, or they drive themselves home.

Parents are driving themselves because my father does not drink so it is not a issue. We go home via cab/something or hitch a ride. Not interested in spending money!

I would totally skip it if I were you- just an added expense and if you dont need it- why bother... a fun idea though would be to rent a car- you can rent a jag or mercedes or something fun to leave the wedding in and it will be less than $100. just a thought

I don't think so, unless you want to take a limo from home to WM. We are gerring married at the Watermill (Ceremony and Reception) so we are just getting a towncar for a pick up drop off to the hotel after. And then probably a car to the airport the next morning.

I am having my ceremony and reception at the same site. Since I am staying at the Fox Hollow Inn the night before my wedding I will be using my feet to get to my hall. Expensive, I know, I'm splurging a bit but ya gotta do what you gotta do.

FH on the other hand will be staying at his parents house the night before and we will be getting a pick up/drop off type limo package (if you can even call it a package....lol) for him and his groomsmen.

The only reason to get limos would be for your arrival with the bridal party to your location and if you want to take pictures with it.... other than that i think you are ok without them.

We're not getting limos. We're all getting ready at the hotel and the ceremony is right before cocktail hour so it would be a waste. The only thing that needs to be transported is my dress and our friend has a Suburban so he's going to bring it there for me.
