I contacted a travel agent in fla who is supposed to be very knowledgeable about the canadian rockies, where fh and I are going on our honeymoon. When I asked her to confirm that there was no fee to me to use her services (which is what I have been told from almost everyone, that travel agents do not cost the traveler money), she sent me back an email containing these fees:
- $100 per person up front non refundable trip planning fee, not applied to final cost of the trip.
- $60 per person for issuing any international airline tickets, $30 per person for issuing any domestic airline tickets
- $100 per person to work on any FF mileage tickets
I would pay a trip planning fee but not a fee to issue tickets (what could that cost HER???) or for working with my freq flyer mileage. This sounds outrageous. Is this typical??? I have worked with two different travel agents and was never charged a fee.

Re: travel agency fees?
I understand the travel fee but 60 per ticket that is a lot of money usually they charge around $20 to 25

I used Travel Tom, he didnt charge any fees! FM me for more info. You definitely don't have to pay fees! Honeymoons are enough as it is!

Thanks - I think I have his email somewhere from another member, but if you can fm me that'd be great. I think I found an awesome place to stay - we want to get a log cabin in the snow, we are definitely not beachy people - but I may see if a TA can get me a good rate on airfare, or see what they can find for a place to stay.

Yeah I think we are using Dawn's Honeymoon Specialists and she doesn't charge a fee either. She has been a doll to work with, too!

Re: travel agency fees?
our agents 'fee' is in the total price he gave us- which was still less than we found elsewhere!
