Travel Agent

What is the deal with travel agents?

Here is my situation, I am thinking that it is not worth it for us - but let me know if you think otherwise.

We have already booked our flights to Hawaii (FFIL gave us frequent flyer #). My dad has put in for a 1 week timeshare in either Maui or the Big Island. We still aren't sure if we have it or not.

We are staying for a total of 13 days, so we would need a hotel for the remaining 6 days and 2 rental cars. We would also need to book our activities, however, I bought a travel book and have found a great site that I can use to book all of those things (snorkeling, luaos, etc).

Do you think a travel agent would be worth it for us? What can we expect from them?

my dad LOVES travel agents because they can save you money and because if you show up to your hotel and something is wrong or whatever your travel agent can fix it.

i've never used an agent myself...

I'm a fan of TA's simply b/c if you get there and there is an issue with any aspect of your vacation, they are just a phone call away, and the problem will be fixed.

and most agents will match or beat any prices that you show them.. so shop around and go prepared!
