Travel agent?

Travel agent?

This may sound silly, but I have never worked with a travel agent before - always did it myself.

I think I am going to have to use one for my honeymoon - but how does it work? Do you put a deposit down on the trip? Do you pay for the whole thing in advance?

Any advice/help would be appreciated!

Thank you!

You should def check out Tom from American Express-he’s great! He doesn’t have a fee and all we did was pay the deposit on the trip (a cruise) which we would have done anyway to book.

I use Tom the Travel Guy and he is amazing. he doesn't charge a fee and we only had to put down $300 for the land portion of the trip and $218 for our insurance and the rest is due a month before we leave. He works for American express and his email is: [email protected]

He worked with our budget and got us a great deal. Tell him Danielle sent you!

no, someone from here recommended him and I gave him a call and he was the NICEST, most patient person I everspoke to. He is knowledgable about so many vacation spots and really listens to what you want in a honeymoon/vacation and finds the PERFECT place for you. I gave him all of my criteria and I feel like he found a place that was made for us!!

Re: Travel agent?

My fiance actually has a family friend that is a travel agent - so we are going to work through him - but I was just wondering how much money we will need to have upfront vs. how much is spent right before the trip and during...

It seems like only small-ish deposits are needed up front?

Thanks for all the input!

Usually for a cruise it's 250 pp or 500 depending on which cruise

if your doing land packages and flights are instant purchase it's Land deposit and flights up front-

sometimes the flights are BULK air which can be held with hotel with just a minimum of $300 deposit!

I used Liberty Travel and the agent we had was awesome. She worked with the budget and threw in a few extras. All we had to pay for up front was the cost of the airfare to lock in that rate then we can pay as we choose with the balance due 1 month before we leave.

Where are you going for HM? I'm going to Greece and just wanted to know if I should get an agent that at a local place or just go to LT in my neighborhood. I just booked the second package trip this year with LT but should HM planning be different?

This is what we did. we used Dave from dream destinations and we just had to pay for bulk air fare. we have 10 days before the flight to pay in full. But our reservations and details are all set.

I highly recommend him if you don't get them through friend.

Stephanie,
I'm going to Hawaii and the girl was very knowledgeable because she specializes in Hawaii so she gets great reviews from guests whom she has booked. I'm not sure how they are with Greece. You should find an agent that specializes in your location to get the best deal and the most information. Good Luck!
