Do travel agents get paid by the consumer or by the company they refer the consumer to?

If anyone has a travel agent rec, please FM me or post here. THANKS!

Re: Travel Agent question

I can't answer for every travel agency but...most agents get paid by the hotels or the cruise line or tour company. Some agencys might have a booking fee.
