Travel Agents

I've never used one. Can someone explain to me what its like working with one?

I always book stuff on my own... so what are the benefits of going through an agent. What sort of fees do they charge? Can they really get you better deals than you could get by yourself.

Honestly, I'm confused about this too and dont think they are worth it. I never used one. I called my mom's a few weeks ago. They never call me back with quotes. They made me research and give them hotel names. W T FFF I thought they would recommend places. They said there are no direct flights to CR, and there are. I do my own research better, so I think I'm just doing it myself.

UNless someone can recommend a great TA. I dont get the point!

I never use them - Booking yourself is the way to go IMO!

I never use them either & I travel pretty regularly but I did use one for our HM b/c we are going to Fiji & I felt that it was easier to go through a TA b/c we'll be taking 6 flights (b/c of inter-island flights) for our honeymoon so I was more comfortable with someone doing all my bookings together and the TA did get me a better price than what I originally found looking by myself....& it's on the other side of the world so I wanted someone with experience in dealing with that location. It was free for me & he got me better rates & packages so it was pretty easy for me to go with one.

I was thinking on the train about how I wanted to post this question! So funny!

Do they charge fees? How do they make $?

We went to liberty travel..it was honestly the same price if we had booked it online ourselves. However, we werent 100% sure where we wanted to go and she helped us pick. And yes, it is free!
