travel agents

This may be a stupid question but can you negotiate with a travel agent? What would you negotiate...upgraded rooms, excursions??
Thanks

When a travel agent receives prices from hotels or airlines, there is no room for negotiation. The prices come straight from the company. The only discounts that can be applied may be AAA or if they are running a promotion like stay 5 pay for 4 nights.

Cruises are also similar - whatever price the company is offering at the time. If they are having specials then special prices may be given.

Be sure to ask for any type of discounts. Some cruise lines do offer union discounts - I believe NCL does for Police and Fire unions.

Do your homework and tell the agent you saw adds for this or that.
