Travel Agents

Hi All - Question...Why would you or wouldn't you book with a travel agent? Just curious because travel agents are kinda like wedding planners but without the fee - they get paid from the hotels. If you decided you didn't want to book with a TA is it because you found that they didn't understand what you wanted?

We knew we wanted to use a TA simply for convenience. Our TA Melissa from tripguy, whose also a bride on here, handled everything- flights, accommodations, transportation,etc and we ended up saving a few hundred dollars booking through her. Our usual go to sites online like expedia, booking.com, and such were giving us pretty high rates so FH's dad suggested we look into TA's, and luckily we got a pretty good deal. She also gave us diff options and itineraries, and FH and I choose the best one that appealed to us. :) If you want to add little excursions, they can do that too, but FH and I decided to just do that on our own.

But Its really up to you and what your needs are, and wether you're willing to do the research on your own. Lots of places give TA's deals if they work with them often too from what I understand. :)

We used a travel agent, made it a lot easier. She priced out diff hotels and options based on our specifications. She also has been to these places and you can ask her questions which is helpful.
