Travel agents vs. doing it online yourself???

Just got a quote from a TA and went online to search if we were getting a deal and got the same exact quote online when we did it ourselves. How can this be, is there something I am missing here????

Maybe, its because you dont have the delay of the $$ up front with a TA?

We have changed our minds on what we are doing so much over the past 2 months I figured we should at least try a TA and see what the real difference is with using them...

in my experience...i have a few friends that are travel agents...the prices online are usually about the same. The TAs usually can throw in things for free like a rental car and free breakfasts and things like that. I prefer going through a travel agent, only bc I like getting those extras and not having to hassle with a rental car etc., on my own and if something goes wrong during the trip, u have someone to call. Another perk is that u can put a deposit on something at say a Liberty Travel and if a new deal comes along or u change ure destination, u can always change it through them without losing ure money...as long as u book SOMETHING with them. I just thought it was safer and I had more room to change my mind...so for our honeymoon we went with the TA. Also, the airfare is usually a little cheaper bc they get package deals...especially on interisland flights and small flights in the islands..I hope I helped!!

I'm in the travel industry (not a TA though) and used a TA to book our HM. Travel Agents can book into promotions that are not offered to the general public. Certain agents are destination specialists and can provide you with valuable information and tips too. IMO it's worth it to book with a TA. Good luck

Thanks so much ladies, I feel like I am going mad these days with all this stuff . I am trying to weigh the pros and cons so far my TA did not really have any upgrades or deals etc. just a sandlas night promo that was not all that much.

I do understand the whole safety thing though, that makes sense and of course if the prices go down. They did mention that.......

The only time I use a TA is when traveling to Overseas. Mexico and the Caribean I'm comfortable doing myself
