I need to travel to the city on Saturday with my two children: 3.5 and 1.5. My question is can I take a cab (or better yet, will the cab take me) with two children w/o car seats? What are my options? I will be taking the LIRR into Penn and need to travel by cab. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I know people do it but whether or not it's legal or you feel safe doing it is another thing....
I know they wouldn't sit around waiting for you to put two car seats into the cab. And I know you wouldn't want to haul two car seats in with you!
Just put the 1.5 on your lap and you'll be fine. Or take a subway ( )

I did and still do it all the time. they are now 3 & 6. If it is alot of walking take the taxi. if not like Matron said hold the 1.5 in your lap. I know when I went with my kids into the city by myself we went from the central park zoo to the tree then we went back to FAO all walking this was 2 ears ago. so they were 4 & 1 and believe it or not they walked. and my guys dont like walking. (I forgot the stroller at home ) But they had a blast and slept the whole way home. Everyone thought I was nuts but we had a great time.
