We're going on our HM during hurricane season and although the resort we're staying at assured us that Oct. is pretty calm weather-wise, we'd rather be safe than sorry.
Does anyone have any reccomendations?

yes we got travel insurance. I am paranoid if god forbid something happens, at least this way we are covered. I know 2 people who used it and came in very handy, well i know others who got it but those 2 instances it worked out for them bc there was a problem and they couldn't go to their destination anymore and the TA just booked them at a new location

I took out the insurance for our HM. The only reason is because for any reason the flight is cancelled for increment weather or other reasons. We get all our money back. We are going to Sandals Whitehouse in Jamaica in October as well. To be honest for our own piece of mind as well just in case.

My DH and I always take out the travel insurance. God forbid either one of us gets sick, or a member of our immediate family (mom or dads) and we have to cancel. That is the primary reason why we do this. Inclement weather and travel delays is the other reason, but I usually book my trips on my Amex and have coverage there.
You will be safe from hurricanes in Jamaica in October. At that point, they don't hit the Caribbean anymore but hit further north on the eastern seaboard and Gulf.

we are going to Sandals - St.Lucia in Sept/Oct. It is hurricane season and although the likelihood of something happening is slim for the extra $200 or so we bought the insurance...just in case.

we got it for the HM, for the first time ever. Travel Tom recommended it, and we got it through him. We can cancel for any reason at all (or no reason) and get ALL of our $$ back. I think the insurance cost about $130.

We got it because we are going to Antigua. It's still considered hurrican season in October so it's better to be safe than sorry.

we bought traveler's insurance when we booked our honeymoon...it was less than $200 and it's nice to have peace of mind.

We're getting it just to be on the safe side for all reasons stated about and also to cover if our luggage gets lost, etc.

family friends needed it because the husband got hurt at work and they postponed the honeymoon and got their $$$ back instead of losing it all

our HM is during hurricane season as well. We purhcased travel insurance through our travel agent. Did you book through a TA?

we got it too since ours wil be in rpime hurricane season
