For those of you who have gone overseas...how did you communicate with family back at home? I'm going to Italy on my honeymoon and I know my cell phone won't work there. Should I buy a cheap pre-paid cell phone when I get there or would a calling card be easier? I have no clue...HELP!

Phone cards are pretty cheap in Italy ! I did this a few times & was good (you really don't want to be reached on vacation: do you?).

Why wont your cell phone work there? What provider do you have? I have Cingular and before I travel overseas I just tell them to put me on roaming and it works. I can make and receive calls and text when I am in Europe.

You can use your cell phone--just check with your provider and see if it's possible and how much.
Otherwise, I usually just buy a phone card.

I have verizon. FH already called and said our phone won't work over there. I don't know the details on why though.

Ohhh OK, yeah you have to have a tri band phone or something like that in order for it to work. Do you think you can get an inexpensive phone over there and refill it with a sim card?
