Trees for privacy

Trees for privacy

We bougt a corner house w/ side property. Therefore, we needed a fence and trees - we did the fence in the fall and plan on getting the trees in the spring.
I forget the name of these trees - but I was wondering if anyone else did this?
I have heard that the smaller the trees the less they cost - any info. would be appreciated.
Where do you buy them?
How much do they cost?

We are thinking of doing the same thing in the spring. We are thinking of using the 'emerald green arborvitae' trees we've seen at Home Depot in the past. The trees are evergreens in the cypress family (like the Tuscan countryside). If I remember correctly, Home Depot runs sales on the small ones: 3 plants for $12.

When we bought our house, this was one of my biggest pet peeves.

We have about 1/3 of an acre and the backyard was barren and the house in back of us is a high ranch with a deck on the first floor. We had no privacy, they would constantly smoke on the deck (even in the winter).

So we bought four 14-16 feet white pines (they stay green all winter and had them planted to block the deck). It helped and they are growing and they are big to begin with.

I want to buy more, but it will have to wait until after the wedding.

We also bought eight 8-10 feet green arborvities spelling??? and had them planted on the side of our backyard to block our neighbors windows.

I want more trees planted for privacy in the future.

What would they cost full grown?

We paid $300 for each 14 - 16 feet white pine, so that was $1200. Then I think for the 8-10 feet arborvites spelling? we paid $50 or $60, I don't remember the exact price for those.

It's expensive, but for us to was worth it.
