Trent Reznor Answers Your Questions on Facebook
via Pitchfork: Latest News on 5/6/10

Last week, Trent Reznor blew our **** open by announcing the existence of How to Destroy Angels, his new group with wife Mariqueen Maandig and frequent collaborator Atticuss Ross. 'A Drowning', pictured above, is their debut single; you can buy it from Amazon now, or stream it here. There's also a six-song, self-titled EP due this summer.

Though some aspects of this new project are shrouded in mystery, it seems as though Reznor won't keep it that way for long. He's taken to the How to Destroy Angels Facebook page to answer fans' questions. Last night, the group posted the following missive: 'We're experimenting with Facebook's ability to host a Q&A type scenario here. If you have a question, post it here and we will check in from time to time (and MAY even answer some!)'. Since then, they've had more than 300 questions, and Reznor answered a handful of them.

The takeaway thus far: The 'A Drowning' single won't get a physical release, but the forthcoming EP will. Reznor calls the EP 'the results of early collaboration', and claims that they're still developing their sound, which will probably end up sounding less like Nine Inch Nails than their current tracks do. They're tentatively planning to release a full-length early next year, and Reznor says that we can expect 'MAYBE some degree of touring' after that.

'To me, HTDA frees me from some of the constraints I've begun to feel (primarily emotionally) in NIN,' writes Reznor. He also reiterates his claim that Nine Inch Nails are 'not dead' and offers this intriguing nugget: 'I am about to work on some material that I believe will be quite different than previous NIN very soon.' And he drops a cryptic reference to a forthcoming entry in NIN's Ghosts series.

The group is named after a Coil 12', and Reznor consulted Coil's Peter Christopherson about the band's name. He also says that Christopherson might contribute to some forthcoming HTDA music.

Now hurry up and get your question in there before Reznor gets completely overwhelmed and abandons the whole Facebook thing.

Did anyone any play NIN for dancing? I'm considering it It has a very danceable beat, and I'm not a top 40s girl.

Yessssssssssssssssss.

I'm kinda excited that HTDA is going to stray a bit from their current sound. It is very NIN (well, the few clips that are available) which isn't bad, but I'd really like to hear what else Trent has up his sleeve.

GIRL, our must play list is going to be filled with NIN. We are walking out to NIN!!! 'LA MER' since we are getting married at Chateau La Mer. heheh

But a lot of his music is also upbeat and danceable, and will be played!!!!!!! We aren't top 40s people, and our music is not going to be typical wedding music!

Oh yeah, we definitely have NIN on our must-play list.

Along with possibly using one song as an intro. But I can't talk about that until after the fact.

Re: Trent Rezner!

What dj can balance good rock/alternative/danceable songs with making sure people are up and dancing?

I want to get everyone on the dance floor but I also want to play music I like. I actually like old italian type songs like 'Aint that a kick in the head' I think that kind of stuff can be fun and get the old people up.

I love that type of music as well and plan on having that also!!! Def good for the old people, and I think a lot of people we hang out with enjoy it too. It's fun music.. Just give your dj a DETAILED MUST PLAY LIST. This is what we are doing.

We have After Hours.

Thanks for your response. I guess I'm looking for reassurance from a dj who understands that type of music but has also seen what people will dance to and what people won't, so he can make suggestions that will please me and the guests.

WHen you meet DJs, you will get a feel for them. Tell them how you feel and get a feel for their vibe and what music they are into, etc. A good dj will be able to do that.

Who have you met with?

Look into LI Sounds, After Hours, FM Entertainment...and tell them what you're looking for.

Re: Trent Rezner!

We needed a DJ who could combine this kind of music, some Indian music, and regular dance music.

I'm going to send you an FM with who we booked, since I don't post about my vendors on here
