So my dress is strapless, and I bought a corset-type bra to wear under it. I just tried on the whole ensemble, and I feel like the corset is suffocating me. I've never worn one before so I'm not sure if this is normal. The dress FEELS so much more comfortable without it, but LOOKS so much better with it. Is this normal to feel with a corset? I'm thinking of asking the seamstress if she can sew in some sort of support-type thing, but I dont think it will look as good. Help!

Re: Tried on dress, a little upset
its the corset. I would wear it around and kind of break it in, like a shoe, and see if that helps!

hmm I don't really know if it's normal but you need to be comfortable AND look good--there must be a way to do both! Maybe there is some kind of long line bra you can do instead of a corset? Or maybe the corset is just too tight?

Was just going to say that same thing- you probably just need to wear it around the house to break it in more and get used to it.

Re: Tried on dress, a little upset
My MOH wore a corset on her wedding day and by the end of the night she couldn't WAIT to get it off!! I don't know if you want to be uncomfortable on such a great day. How about some SPANX?? I think they make body-type suits that would help the dress look great but def. be more comfy??

The corsets are very uncomfortable to wear but make for a beautiful silhouette. I think wearing it around will help you get used to it, and with all the excitement/activity of your wedding day you probably won't even remember its on

Re: Tried on dress, a little upset
corsets are a terrible thing as far as comfort goes, but a great thing for shaping. I just looked at your pics and honestly, you are pretty petite. If you are THAT uncomfortable, try spanx all the way, and a strapless bra. You don't need MAJOR support by any means, so maybe try a corset or undergarment that is less confining. HTH

I agree with Lindsay, try it on and wear it around. It will not be the most comfortable thing you have ever worn, but it should not be unbearable.

Re: Tried on dress, a little upset
Chances are that corsets are not the most comfortable thing,, but yes like some other girls said,,u may need to brake it in. Or just do a strapless.. Do you need a full upper body Bra????

Re: Tried on dress, a little upset
I once wore a corset for a formal strapless dress and it was quite suffocating. I agree with the 'breaking it in' idea. The more you wear something the more you get used to it and it conforms to your body.
Good Luck!

Re: Tried on dress, a little upset
Hmm.. I just switched bras. At the bridal shop they had a try on one that they sell and it made me look really thick in the middle. I mean, I have like a D cup, so do ya really think I need the padding? Geez! So, I went to another store and got a thinner one. Also, you want your bra to be snug, but should be able to breathe. And yes, sometimes they can sew something in although I think they usually do that with the bridesmaids dresses and I do not know how it would end up looking.
