We were scheduled to go on a trip to lake George this coming weekend for 4 nights with another couple
They have major flooding up there and powers out we had booked a cabin right on the lake I spoke with the place Where we are staying and it sounds bad
Were trying to figure out some alternative places to go in case it's not better by Friday
We would like to drive and not fly any where within 3 to 7 hr drive of long island. We would like to be able to kayak and do other outdoors stuff but are open to dong other things as well. We just want to get away and destress for a few days.
Any and all ideas welcome!!!! And any hotels/cabins/ etc are welcome as well!!
Thanks In advance!

Re: trip ideas
The damage on the North Fork of Long Island wasn't so bad, and I'm pretty sure they're working really hard to have things up and running for Labor Day Weekend. Check out Greenport, Southold, Mattituck, Cutchoge for lodging. You can DEFINITELY rent kayaks and go wine tasting, hit the beach. Post again if you decide to head there and need recommendations for restaurants.

Re: trip ideas
well, the damage on the north fork wasn't as bad as jersey or upstate NY and vermont which are experiencing massive floods. i was on the north fork during the storm and recovery began almost immediately. we'll see, though.

Re: trip ideas
Try the Poconos. There are lots of all-inclusive resorts out there.
Also, tons of stuff to go on the Lehigh River and in the woods.

Re: trip ideas
I didnt say that the north fork was worse than nj or upstate or vt Your statement about how the north fork wasnt that bad is ridiculous not sure where you were but our house my aunts my parents and 3 friends were bad, the back of one of my bfs houses was flattened by a tree, on the north fork. A tree fell on my fathers brand new truck he picked up on wednesday So yes it was bad oh and none of us have power still not sure where the recovery is. Yes they started clearing trees right away but my parents house still has a power line dangling

Re: trip ideas
The Gideon Putman in Saratoga Springs State park is AMAZING! I highly recommend it. And it's in the middle of a state park with a ton of hiking trails, and it's a very historic area as well.

You should try Pocono Palace. It's so much fun and it's for couples! You should definitely check out their website.
