Trouble finding safe chew toys

Scooby is an 8 lb. Maltese and he has the sharpest teeth imaginable. I have to constantly replace or mend his soft toys so he doesn't get at the stuffing and he destroyed his dog bed. I can't give him rawhide or other chew toys cause he has broken off bits and I thought he was choking one day. I don't know what else to buy him. He will not go near anything rubber.
Has anyone used or heard of 'Antlerz'? The lady at the pet store recommended it to me and he is loving this thing. He's been chewing on it for almost half an hour and he's so used to me taking things from him he runs when I go near. I hate that he doesn't trust me anymore but besides that, I would love to find out how safe it is.
