Trumpets or not!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I want trumpeters for the ceremony, especially for when I'm about to walk down the aisle before the 'here come the bride' but FH thinks it's tacky to
have them. I also want them to dress in Medieval outfits, to have them look like court Jesters.

Fh is from England and he doesn't think we should do it because we are not Royalty; He thinks i'm doing the trumpets because of him. To tell you the truth I always wanted trumpeters at my wedding. Now I don't know if I should have them because he thinks our English guest might see it as tacky. What do you girls think?

personally - i am not a fan. . . i think they are silly!
but if its something you have always wanted - who cares what other people think! just go for it!!

as for the cultural differences - just tell them thats what they do in America LOL

I agree!! The wedding is about you and your husband, but mostly about you...j/k. If it's something you've always wanted, then it doesn't matter what everyone else will think, unless FH is allergic to trumpets or has a severe phobia.

Seriously, if he isn't adamently against it, then you should do what makes you happy.

I love the sound of trumpets and I do want a trumpet playing at the ceremony with the organ, but I don't want them dressed up. I think the husband of the organist at my church plays the trumpet so we might ask her if he wouldn't mind doing us the favor that day (of course we'll pay him)

I say do what is going to make you happy though and pay no attention to what others are going to think. The only ones that really matter are you and FH.

Just a warning though. I know a priest who will not allow the trumpeteers in the church dressed in tights. He is a close friend of the family and he was telling us how one bride didn't mention anything to him prior to the wedding and they just showed up and he wouldn't allow them in the church because he felt that they were not appropriately dressed. He was only going to let them play outside as people were walking in. Luckily the trumpeteers had robes in their truck that they use in those type of situations so they put them on and then were allowed to play in the church.

Just a reminder to all girls getting married in a church, before you decide to do something and spend a ton of money to have certain things at your ceremony be sure to clear it with your church/priest first!

I voted against the trumpets once you mentioned the Knight & Armor theme. I totally agree with your FH. I wouldn't really want it at my wedding.

However, I doubt the guests would think it's tacky. If anything, his guests would probably understand it more than yours since you WILL be royalty on your big day.

It's all about you and your FH though.. so do what will make the two of you comfortable. JMHO
