Trying again:invites

If I am getting married July 1, 2006, when should I start looking for invites?
When should I order invites?
When should I mail invites and when should my rsvp date be?
we have many oot guests, but we did send stds

It doesn't hurt to start looking when you have time. It took me a few times before I picked out the exact type of invite I wanted. I thought I wanted something 'girlie' but I had to come to a compromise with my FH (he likes to be involved and heard).

After we decided on a style, I compared prices between different companies and stores. After I realized that assembling parts myself worked out cheaper, I ordered the invites a month before sending them out. But I did ask the company how long they took to process and ship. I got my invites within 4 days of ordering them...

Within the the month, I assembled each and printed the inner and outer envelopes myself. The invites I chose were pricier than most so I saved some money by printing the envelopes myself.

As for sending them out, I think 6 weeks before RSVP date is good. You can have the RSVP date be June 1st, unless you need more time for a count of heads for favors or something...

We made our RSVP date 6 weeks before the wedding, and sent the invites out 6 weeks before the RSVP date. I started looking in January but wasn't able to find any invites I liked that didn't cost a fortune, so we ended up getting custom made invites.

rsvp be last weekend in may
and mail out beg of april?

I think looking now is fine, but don't get too crazy over it. Find your style and set your budget, definitely. If you find the company you want to order from, ask how long it takes to process and ship the order. Mail them out, the earliest, in late May. I think April is too soon...
