Hi girls, this may be a weird question, but I am trying to figure out how much a wedding in LI costs. most of our friends are on the island, so would rather not go out of the area because they would have to get hotels, but also would prefer not to go over 20,000. Is this possible?
Thanks

Re: trying to determine budget
It is possible, but you may have to cut corners. MY Fh and I are on a tight budget. It started out at like 20,000 but now we are looking more like 30,000 (with our honeymoon included). Good Luck!!
I am having a beautiful wedding for 15K. I would be happy to share any info with you that you may need. I did a lot of research to get the best quality for the most inexpensive price. Please FM me if you need anything or have any questions.

Re: trying to determine budget
It is definitely possible!!! You will save A LOT of money by doing DIY projects. Also, try to negotiate on things......not sure if you can or not, but hey, the worst people can say is NO, right?
You can save a lot of money too by using real flowers for all the bouquets and silks for the centerpieces. There are some silks out there that look soooooooooooo real!
Ebay, Ebay, Ebay! You can save tons of money by searching around. You never know what type of deal you may run into!
Good Luck and welcome to the boards!

Re: trying to determine budget
totally depends upon the # of guests. A lot of people can have a nice reception for under 20k, but in general, I think they have 100 people or less.....

Re: trying to determine budget
thats part we have to figure out, I am already at 70, just with my friends and family and our mutual friends. Not sure how many his parents want to invite, could wind up around 120, which makes it difficult. The helpful thing is we want a Winter, January, wedding, so that helps by putting it off season

Also, having a wedding on a Friday or Sunday really helps too. Some vendors tend to lower the price on those days

A winter wedding is definetly a great way to lower your cost and it is a beautiful time of year. I agree-I would do tons of DYIs, shop around for all vendors, have the wedding on a Friday or a Sunday, and negotiate on everything. Good luck.
