Trying to plan a mini vacation

We are looking into New Orleans. Has anyone been there and what hotel did they stay at? Our budget is 1,000-1,500.

My parents go to NOLA every year and they stay at the Chimes. Its a BNB in the garden district right near the street car. I haven't stayed there. When I was in NOLA, I stayed at the Radisson but when I go in October I am staying at The Chimes. Their rates are reasonable. Sorry I can't comment personally about an experience there but my parents rave about it.

we just went there in feb. and stayed at the Ritz Carlton. i know we got a good rate, but im not sure what it was. (we dont normally stay in such places, we just decided to treat ourselves!).

if you want to be near all the 'action', you'll want to stay in or near the French Quarter. for a more quiet location, definitely do the Garden District. (we were near the French Quarter)

We always stay at the Omni Royal - check their site for great rates! It's a beautiful hotel that's only a block off Bourbon Street.
