Re: TSO Showcase Tonight
Fiance and I really liked them... my parents on the other hand said NO.... they didn't showcase any 40's/50's music....
uhmmmmmmmmm...heeeeeellloooooo I'm 27 and my fiance is 32?!?!?!?! we aren't looking for 40's/50's music!! but they are the ones footing the bill and that is their generation so its a no go YET AGAIN!!!
UGHHHHHHHHHH this finding a band process is the most frustrating thing in the world!!!
you're a lucky lady!! enjoy them...they seemed like alot of fun... we didnt get to see their whole 90 minutes show because i knew after the first 40 minutes my parents wanted to strangle me for even considering

Re: TSO Showcase Tonight
At showcases, bands play a lot of different styles of music. Some bands even mention that if you don't hear the style of music or songs that you like not to worry because they most likely know those songs. They try to play a variety of different genres so that you can see how versatile they are. If you really like them I wouldn't just cross them off the list if I were you...maybe contact the band and ask if they can play 40s/50s music if that is the deal breaker. FH and I went to a few showcases and I can't remember 40s/50s music being played at any of them (although I could be wrong)...but I'm sure the bands could play those songs if we ask them to.

Agreed. They can play ANY type of music you want but can't showcase it all. They play lots of international too but don't showcase that. I can't guarantee it for sure but im almost 90% positive they can play whatever 40s/50s songs you like.
Also, not sure where the showcase was but they do showcases at the holiday inn (westbury) but started to do more of a lounge-type showcase at Savannah (East Meadow)... if you went there, it might be more current stuff since that's the atmosphere there. I know they played Buggie Woogie Bugle boy as an example at ours and that's definitely the 40s. They have at least 3 pieces in their horn section and that's what the 40s/50s is all about. id call and find out if you really like them and ask them for a song list with 40/50s songs to show to your parents.
Stay positive.

Hey where is this showcase? I've been wavering between a band or DJ and have not booked anyone yet.
Also, can anyone FM what their rates are if they know? TIA

We saw them at Savannah.... FH and I were trying to convince my parents (until we were blue in the face) that bands playing at a lounge like that arent going to try to target the business of seniors...it just doesnt make sense... maybe if they do another show case SOON at the holiday inn, we try again but until then..... my search sadly continues....
