Re: TTC
how exciting! My gyn told me to contact her before we start trying so I could get on pre-natal vitamins. Also she suggested one month off the pill before trying.Thats all I know, and that was offered up without asking. We're not trying yet (not for a few more years).
Good luck!

Re: TTC
Suzanne, YAYYY !! Im so happy for you ! I know youre thrilled and excited. Lots of luck to you !
Definately go to your ObGyn. Are you due for your annual visit soon ? (If so, just mention it there) OR just make an apptmt to discuss TTC, youre entitled to it ! and they will put you on prenatal vitamins right away. They say, its good to have your body on them even before you TTC, it cant hurt, its vitamins, and your body will adjust to having these extra nutrients that are great for a growing baby.
(they will also advise you to NOT take your own mulitvitamins when youre on the prenatals, be careful of that, because there are some ingredients in the vitamins that you cant have too much of )
I babbled enough, just do some reading, browsing of websites to get in the groove, and LOTS OF LUCK !!!!

Re: TTC
Well I'll never discourage anyone from 'going at it'
It is definitely good to make an appt with your dr. and discuss what you can be doing now for your future baby, prenatal care can never start too early.
Have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Edited to add: I have heard recently that folic acid is not only important for your baby but helpful in TTC and the prenates have the ideal amount. Also, if you are a coffee drinker/smoker try to start weaning yourself. I don't smoke but when we went off the pill, I started having decaf lattes at Starbucks instead of cappuccinos - all the milk in the latte is good for you too! There is a certain amount of caffeine that is safe but I try to avoid it for the most part. It helped that I got totally turned off from coffee in early pg and haven't wanted it since. Hope this helps.

Re: TTC
I cut all caffeine and artifical sweetners when I became PG. Drink lots of water, milk and unsweetened natural juices like pear and apricot nectars, etc.Have fun!
And best wishes for a healthy conception!

Re: TTC
Hi Suzanne. We got married on the same day! he he. And I was just talking to DH last night about TTC. I went to my GYN Wed. night and he has been waiting two years for me to get married. He was so excited when he came in the room, he wrote me up the presception for the prenatal vitamins even though I told him we wanted to wait a little longer. He didn't want to hear it! Ha ha. He is so funny. So I promised him on my next 6 month visit (April) we will talk again about it and he can maybe give me the prescription! He wrote it up for Primacare. I don't know. I threw it away, we really have to wait and looking at it would make me depressed. But I only have one month of BCP and then I am going to get off them, give my body a few months to get back to normal! I am so excited for you and jealous! Please keep us updated. Now i got to go home and tell Mike, my friend Suzanne who got married on the same day we did is trying!! rub it in!

Re: TTC
My DH and I are going to start TTC in Dec. I've done a lot of research to be prepared. We started talking about TTC in the beginning of the year. So I had my annual and told them about trying -- I didn't like my dr. so I switched and made a pre-conception appt w/ new doctor. She just told me to take the mulit-vitamin for now since it does have 100% of the folic acid. She said for right now save some money since the pre-natal vitamins are expensive. I also am trying to get to my goal weight and that was really important too. You really want to be in shape b/c it can only help in the pregnancy. I also read a lot of books from the library on how to be prepared. I vote for going to see the doctor first before really 'trying' just to make sure you have everything in order. Another thing they sometimes will do is test your blood for immunity to rubella. I had that done as well. A good web site is epregnancy. They have lots of info for pre-conception through the whole pregnancy.www.epregnancy.com
GOOD LUCK!
