TTC or Soon-to-be TTC Smokers Support Group

i plan to quit smoking after the first of the year and then start TTC in june. i know that quitting is for the best (for many reasons), but worried about how my body will react. i currently smoke a pack a day and (as many smokers will agree) i really ENJOY smoking. ideally, i would like to quit naturally, but not sure it that will be feasible.

although crazy, i worry about gaining weight. as i currently do not exercise, do not drink water, do not take vitamins and do not eat a healthy diet. i RARELY eat more than one meal a day. my goal is force myself to eat a healthy diet, exercise and start taking vitamins. easier said then done.

what is your strategy?

I have a similar strategy but started working out before I quit smoking...made sense to me on two levels....
1. Its shock to your body if you change two huge habits at once
2. I figured that I would lose a few pounds and get myself used to the routine of working out...then when I started gaining weight from quitting it would not be AS noticeable

I am not sure if this helps you but it has certainly helped me.

I quit the second I found out I was PG and it wasn't bad at all. No major cravings or withdrawal symptoms. I do crave a cig once in a while but no biggie, it goes away after a few minutes.

The funny thing is now I hate the smell of cigarettes. Its so gross when I'm standing next to someone who smokes, I want to throw up! Go figure.

same here. Actually I quit while ttc. I never really have major cravings. I joke with everyone that still smokes to get preggo and they'll quit. For me it was the easiet and best way to quit smoking. You will quit when you find out you are preggo because you wont want to chance any harm against your child.
