TTC Quesion about going off the pill

I have been on the pill for over a decade because of irregular periods. I used to skip a month or two at a time and I have never experienced PMS, so I never knew when it was coming.

Should I go off the pill several months before I want to TTC so that I can try to figure out what my cycle is? Or should I stay on it until right before I want to conceive? I have been on it for sooooo long, that I am not sure what to expect when I actually go off.

If I do go back to very irregular periods, is there anyway to determine when I am going to ovulate other than taking my temperature?

I feel like I am already worried about having problems TTC and I am not even ready to try yet

IMO, I would go off it as soon as your ready to, basically, as you stated, to see if you can figure out what your cycles will be like. If you are very irregular, it will take some time to figure it out. Charting your temperature is a very good way to determine when you ovulate, as is noting the consistency of your cervical mucus (Sorry if TMI). Using an OPK like the ClearBlue Fertility Monitor is something that may help as well.

I never had problems before going on the pill, so when I came off the pill after 7 years and was irregular, it took about 10 months to get pregnant.

I was on the pill for 12 years to stabilize my PCOS and have just recently been off since we're TTC. My doctor recommends going off for 2-3 months before ttc so you can figure out your ovaluation dates and also because your uterus lining is thinned out with on BCP.

Same here, got off in december and waiting for AF to visit 2 more times and off to TTC we go!

I went off the pill the end of april b/c we were not sure when we were going to try then we tried in november and I got pregnant the first time! but I was on prenatals all those months
