So, I went to a beautiful outdoor wedding a few years back. The weather was beautiful the food was great and the music kept everyone dancing all night.
There was just one thing... the centerpieces died halfway through the night.
Here was the problem... they had these huge floral arrangements on each table with almost no water in the vase... the lack of water + the blaring sun, dried up all the flowers...
The arrangements were falling all over the table while everyone was trying to eat dinner !
Duh... i guess the bride and groom didn't think that through...
Soooo ... my QOTD is:::
'What is something you have seen people have or do at their wedding that you were totally like .. duh.. i would never do that?'

I was at a wedding last year that didn't have any tables for people to sit at. It was in a mansion so the rooms had different buffets set up, but there was no where to alight to eat. I found it quite awkward.
That was also the wedding that I got so many mosquito bites, I vowed never to get married outdoors!!!! lol But that's just me.

One wedding I went to had an obscene amount of speeches. It was like 'this is your life' - saying the guests were restless was an understatement. I think keeping it short and sweet is more effective.

Music for ONLY 20 somethings.
There were a whole lot of people at the wedding in different age categories.
MOST of the music all night long was rap, top 40 and popular music.
Im glad the bride and groom loved it, but only the 20's people were dancing.

its not really that serious if you do this, but ive seen it done and i just wouldnt do it... at my friends wedding, she was announced into the room and then everyone just started dancing! she had no first dance! i know some people do it, but i just feel the frist dance should be the dance you dance with your new hubby! technically my friends frist dance was beat it by michael jackson! lol (that was the song they walked into)

My friend got married in May and it was beautiful. But she didn't do seating assignments. She didn't think she had to because it worked so well at my other friend Becca's wedding the summer before. But Becca's wedding was just a big party, she really didn't have a lot of food and she had tons more seats then people. At my friend's formal wedding it didn't work well at all. People were really stressed about trying to find their seats. Luckily we knew so we got our seats right away, but people generally skipped the cocktail hour tables and ran to grab seats because of it.
Assigning seats is a *****, but its a must do.

I agree, its very uncomfortable being the date of a wedding party member too. It stinks to split up dates.

There were no seats at cocktail hour at one wedding. So people had to eat standing up, which I HATE.
At another wedding, there was no food option, at dinner time, they brought out a turkey/potato/vegetable plate and that was it. What if I was a vegetarian? I don't think the bride and groom thought their menu choice through. Plus it wasn't very good.

i went to a wedding and right after the bride n groom walked in there were seated in the middle of the dance foor while we all stood..there were about to do the montage,fine right?
excpet they did 4 songs..one of her alone,one of him,2 of them togethr..we stood for almost 20 minutes..we were all tired of seeing photos by the 3rd song

I went to a wedding where they had a cashbar and they then closed the cashbar an hour into the reception. Also they had bottles of soda on each table.

I went to a wedding in Jacksonville, FL....where it is TOTALLY different from the way we do things here. I was surprised most people came in very casual dresses or shorts even though it was an evening wedding. There is no place like the north for good taste in IMO!!!

I think this is the worst! Doesn't happen so much in NY weddings, but DH is in an out of state wedding this year and I'm PRAYING they don't do this.

I haven't been to many weddings in my adult life, so there's really nothing TOO out there. Honestly, I would probably say at my own sister's wedding, she had a percussionist and sax player playing over the DJ, and it drove me up the wall because it was just boom boom boom pounding.
