I just met with the florist that I am sure I will use. She was soooo great!! However, now I'm starting to second guess my decision on the flowers we will use...
We decided to go with tulips. I was so excited until I started telling people... tulips in September. Now I'm hearing that it's a bad idea - they are weaker and will not last through the reception (centerpieces....)
Has anyone used tulips during an 'out-of-season' month? Please give feedback. I plan on calling her and maybe meeting again to discuss other options. TIA

Re: tulips
I'm sure the florist knows exactly which flowers will last longer and what's in season. Most florists import their flowers from other countries - especially in South America. I'm sure your florist is advising you well. Trust them!

Re: tulips
I'm getting married in March...actually the week of 'tulip high season'... and I just had my sample and the tulips lasted LONGER than the roses and stayed up straight as an arrow for days.
Some florists will wire tulips to make them stay...but I actually love when they 'fall' a little bit... so I was never worried about that.
Does your florist feel that she can get those tulips to look fresh? No one ever told me that there would be a problem... I heard one tip was to put a penny in the water.

I was told the same thing....I absolutely LOVE tulips but unfortunately they are not in season on August....they're in season now. Obviously it's up to you but your florist probably knows best. Your other option if you absolutely have to have tulips is to have them done in silk

Re: tulips
My MOH (JLP) used tulips for her wedding. They were beautiful, but liked you mentioned they don't have the staying power of other flowers. They also don't dry well if you were planning on preserving your bouquet.
FM JLP if you want her opinion.

I was told the same thing, and that it would cost a ton of money since they would be out of season

Re: tulips
I was told to stay away from tulips in June. They are expensive and are not in season. For a fall wedding I think all types of flowers that have yellow and oranges would look better then tulips. I DO LOVE TULIPS!!!

Somewhere arond the world tulips are in season any time of the year - it's just pricier for the florist to bring them in and import them from another location.
