So far and so good in my pregnancy and I was eating turkey on rye every day for almost 2 months in the beginning before I heard it wasn't good unless it was heated to cut down the bacteria. As for tuna, it's fine to have, just limit your intake because of the possible mercury content.
IMO, everything in moderation is fine.

Re: Tuna and Cold Cuts.
Cold cuts should be warmed before eating. Tuna should be limited to one can per week. Do not worry about having them before you find out you are pregnant, especially if you find out as early as you. You are not even due for your period yet, right?

Re: Tuna and Cold Cuts.
I had tuna and cold cuts while I was preggo with Luke. Not every day but if the mood struck me. I'm not a big tuna person so I think I only had it 2 times but I love my turkey & swiss sandwiches. I've had them this time too and will continue. My doctor said it's fine in moderation. That's my doctor though. If yours says it's OK (or not) and you implicitly trust him or her, go with their advice.

My dr. said it is ok to have tuna once per week. She did not say anything about not eating cold cuts though, so I am still eating them!

Re: Tuna and Cold Cuts.
my dr. said turkey is fine that there used to be a big scare about listeria but not as much now
w/ tuna- they told me w/ all the literature/findings coming out now about the effects of Mercury not to eat it, so I'd rather be safe than sorry and no more tuna for me for the next few months the way there is no more coffee or alcohol.

Re: Tuna and Cold Cuts.
I have had tuna like twice so far. As for cold cuts, I never really ate too much of it, so I still eat it whenever the mood strikes me. LAtely though, I have been craving hot dogs! I have probably had about 6 hot dogs in 3 months- more than I usually eat all year! BAD- too many nitrates. =(

Re: Tuna and Cold Cuts.
the reason they say no or dont eat many cold cuts is because of the nitrates. for hot dogs, you can buy Empire Kosher dogs- no nitrates.
for cold cuts, ck the label on the prepacked ones ...Trader Joe's typically has food with little or no preservatives so I would recommend cking them out
also- no soft cheeses...no blu cheese (includ dressing!), no brie, no tirimesu either!!

Re: Tuna and Cold Cuts.
Cold cuts is also because of listeria.
However, my doctor told me anything in moderation would be fine, that with the standards the FDA puts on foods these days, the chances of contamination are very slim.
Certain fish is a no-no (swordfish, tilefish) but I have 2-4 servings of fish a week.

Re: Tuna and Cold Cuts.
I had tuna once a week = I couldnt' help it.
The cold cuts - I was bad with that. I mean take away tuna AND cold cuts and what is left to eat. I tried to limit it to turkey as much as possible, but who am I kidding, I had roast beef sandwiches CONSTANTLY. Just make sure you are going to a reputable deli and all is fresh and well refrigerated and handled.
Stay away from soft cheese - brie, goat cheese, etc.

I wasn't allowed to eat either. The first thing I asked Joe to bring me in the hospital was a tuna on whole wheat toast!!!

I stopped eating tuna but I wanted Subway so bad the other day and gave in and ate cold cuts.
By the way my doctor says to stay away from fresh mozzarella right now too.

Salad, Soup, Quiche, PB&J, Hamburger or Turkey Burger, Grilled cheese, Egg salad, Chicken Salad, Yogurt and Fruit.....
I have had about 2 cans of tuna so far. Its not that bad, you just learn to adjust, and if you have to have something forbidden, just do it in moderation.
