Tungsten v. Titanium...any opinions?

FH works with his hands so he needs something durable. Any opinions on what is better for him to bang around?

I was told Tungsten is better, but it can't be cut off the finger in case of an emergency. I am not sure about Titanium.

My vote is for tungsten. We were told that the only way to get titanium off if there is an accident would be to make it hot and then cut it off. It doesn't sound good to me. Go for tungsten. The one we chose is in my album

Not true, titanium can be cut off if need be. Jewelers recommend that you order the ring in the proper size that you need b/c sizing is a long process. It IS a hard metal but that is it. DH does stone and tile work and his ring is titanium and has held up pretty well-with the exception of a few rub marks.

Either way, both are nice

Yes Tungsten my hubby wanted this as his wedding band he loved it ~ but if there is an emergency the ring cannot be cut off ~ So he chose something similar in white gold!

Hey my DH is wearing a tungsten band, He LOVES it. I wrote about it in my review. I might have the place we ordered his from at home-let me know if you want the info and I can FM it to you.

The sucker is VERY durable so the comments about the emergencies are true (DH tried to grind his original one to a bigger size with a power tool and ended up burning his hand because the tool got hot but the ring remaiend perfect) but how many emergencies will you have? Unelss he needs to remove it for surgery, other emergencies would probaby involve broken bones and then it would just be pulled off-gross but true.

My Dh works with his hands so ne needed something durable and he recommends tungsten. His titanium rings get all scratched up quick.

My DH has a tungsten ring, he liked it because it was darker in color, and had a little more weight to it when it was on his finger.

I had the same discussion with the jewler and my husband. Tungsten is more durable, lasts longer and is better. The only thing is it can not be enlarged. Once it is sized and ordered we were told that was it. He loves it and he beats the crap out of it.

Hubby is in construction. Both are very durable but the tungston is stronger then Superman! If something is to happen they have to cut it off

DH opted for the titanium and loves it. Its a whole lot lighter in weight too.

There is another thread on here about Tungsten - the myth about Tungsten not being able to be removed in case of an emergency is untrue...

Google Tungsten rings and you'll see - its one of the most commonly told mis-truths about the metal.
