My FH is planning a mini trip for us this year while we are in Europe. He wants to go to Istanbul, Constantinople, Turkey. I said to leave that for the HM but he cant wait. Has anyone been there or planning on going there? Should I be concerned about my safety there?? I have no idea what this place is like.

I've heard great things about it, of course some parts are not that great...but the resorts there are supposed to be amazing...im sure you'll be in those parts and nothing to worry about. My aunt goes there alot

i would not be concerned at all about safety over there. my brother went to turkey when he was in the navy---(even got a tattoo there) and he loved it.
bring some extra moolah for you and you can get TONS of great prices on leather items..like designer purses, jackets, etc. he found items that would cost $$$$ here, but it was so cheap there cause a lot of leather comes from there.
tons of historical locations there too....and i hear it is quite the lap of luxury in certain areas too.

Yeah my FH mentioned that the currency is really cheap there and you can get like a good hotel for less and others things. Thanks so much!!

yes they have some gorgeous beaches out there...but it can get $$$ if you stay in the hotels by the sea

I actually went to Istanbul for work. It was a very interesting place. I never felt like I was ever in any danger, but I also never went any where alone. Almost everyone spoke english because Istanbul is a touristy place. They even have a great nightlife, we went out almost every night!!
I took almost 300 pictures, I was there for a little over a week. Please let me know if you have any questions.

I went to Turkey, I went to Istanbul and Kusadasi. Its definatley different., THEY ARE SO NICE IN TURKEY. But it is a muslim country and you should know what not to wear., for example have your shoulders and knees covered at all times., in some mosques you need to cover your head.
PS. the beaches are BEAUTIFUL., if you go to Turkey, visit the Asia side (Kusadasi., its all green and beautiful beaches there as well.) You can also do the City of Ephessos.
Oh and the Carpets..bring Money! lol they are gourgeous!

Its going to be in July, its going to be sooo hot, I dont want to cover up, lolol. FH wants to visit Agia Sohpia over there. Thanks for the info.
