turnaround for the FH?

turnaround for the FH?

So, as some may know I am a social worker....not a very easy job but i do love it...
FH was reallyl struggling with how to handle me when i come home really upset (bec i do have those days) and would NEVER understand...mainly, bec i take confidentiality very seriously and can't tell him issues in full and also bec part of not becoming attached to your clinets is not bringing work home with you....

so its been a real struggle to say the least...its hard not being able to talk about why your so upset and when you find a way to manage telling something, he doesnt get it...(and to his credit, most people who are not in the field just dont understand-and this is no offense to anyone!!! so please dont take it that way)

so we are at my bm's housewarming (BTW LOVED the channa plaque!!!! yay!!!) and she is also a social worker....her and i and fh were talking about thier beautiful new home and then work came up (as she is about to switch jobs) and she is telling us this horrible thing that happened to her at her job and some other things (sorry for the vagueness) and we are going back and forth....

although it was just a few days ago, FH just seems different...kind of more understanding....like he has a new found respect for me and what i do...

i dont know what it is, but its a really good thing!!!!and i am neyond thankful for it bec this was a definite stressor for us that had a hard time resolving...

sorry so long!

that's so great i did social work before I was unemployed and I know how hard it can be and I also know how no one could ever imagine what we do on a day to day basis!!!!

Crashing - that's great Christina that FH is becoming more understanding. I have the same difficulty not bringing work home sometimes. But believe me, when I have a bad day, FH knows ALLLL about it......I just don't give him names. You're not breaching confidentiality by telling FH the situations, you just can't tell him the client's name. It might make things easier for both of you that way.

I understand the confidentiality of your job, but sometimes its good to have an uninvolved party to vent to without using names or so?
