Re: Tutor Time...
Wow.. I worked there part time while I was getting my master's and student teaching.. The pay was 8 dollars an hour three years ago. If you teach, you may make 10 or 11 an hour. My suggestion is that it is not worth the work you do for that pay....

Re: Tutor Time...
I have heard many negative things about how they treat the children. Do you have a degree? If so, FM me...I have a job idea for you.

Re: Tutor Time...
If you want info, I am sure that parents who have had their kids there would have some feedback. Maybe not about pay, but they would know about staff turnover, etc.

Re: Tutor Time...
Are you a certified teacher? have you thought about tutoring privately? teachers earn easily $50.00 an hour and UP straight cash tutoring... perhaps people at your school can refer you to parents that have inquired about tutoring. my school's main office keeps a list of teachers that want to tutor and refers us to parents.

I am not a fan of the program. It is not developmentally appropriate!

Re: Tutor Time...
i worked there for 1 1/2 as a toddler teacher. pay varies between centers as they are individually owned. i made $10.50/hour as i neared completion of my BA in psych. chldcare in general doesn't pay very well. i worked in the nesconset location and the education reqs there were a hs diploma and 18 college credit hours in early ed for the teacher position and a hs diploma for assistant or floater position. they require you to take 30 hours of continuing ed workshops every year (state only requires 15/year). as far as their curriculum being developmentally appropriate it depends on the teacher who writes it weekly as curriculum are written by the head teacher weekly (though we did get suggestions and ideas from corporate that were for the most part appropriate). as far as how they treat the children, that again depends on the teachers in the room. they do not do time outs or any physical punishment of any sort (of course). there were teachers there that i would feel comfortable taking care of my child and teachers there that i would not let touch my child with a ten foot pole (hypothetical child of mine), but i honestly feel you will find that at any childcare center. i am a toddler teacher for a different company in NC and the two companies are very similar, same ups and downs. have you worked in childcare before? its certainly not for everyone as it requires tons and tons of patience (for not only the children, but parents and administration). if you have any questions send them my way! good luck!
eta: benefits also vary between locations, but at mine we had paid vacation and sick time that we accrued weekly (after 6 months of employment that is) and you can buy into health and dental which i did and had no probs with.

Re: Tutor Time...
I worked at Tutor Time for almost 3 years while in college in the infant room...my pay was $8.50 and I had no degree in anything child related...I was going to college and graduated with a degree in music business lol! I loved my Tutor Time and when me and my FH do have children (which will be soon after the wedding) I am most definatley going to be putting my children at the one I worked in so the same ladies I worked with will be caring for my little one:) But I do agree that it is not enough pay for what you actually do. But it accomodated my school schedule, I loved the people I worked with and working in the infant room was a great experience so the pay wasn't a big deal to me at the time. If you have any more questions feel free to ask!
