I am a junior high special ed. teacher. I want to start tutoring, but I'm not sure what to charge per hour. Does anyone know the average rate? Is $60/hour too much?
TIA

Re: Tutoring..How much per hour?
My co-worker's sister is a teacher & she says $60 an hour is the normal rate.

Re: Tutoring..How much per hour?
I think depends on the neighborhood.
The test prep company I used to work for charges over $100 an hour, but they offer a discount on large hours packages.
I think $60 is more than fair, but if you live somehwere where the parents can't afford it, it's not going to happen. I think $40 is the LEAST you should take though.

I know my aunt gets $45/hr, in Virginia, and she's considered to be really inexpensive. I think $50-$60 is good.

I think $60 is reasonable...my SIL tutored for kids in Manhattan & in Westchester and got $100 per hour (for 2nd grade!)

I used to work for a tutoring center & most got between $55- 75 per hour, depending on the subject/test they were tutoring for
