So FH works out a lot so his shoulders are a little big (not huge but built a little. So we go to Men's Wearhouse to look at tuxes and they convince him the only way he can wear a tux at the wedding is if he bought the tux because the jacket that will fit his shoulders would be a little big on the stomach. Then they convince him to buy another suit because it will omly cost $100 with him purchasing the tux. Then they tell him he can't rent a shirt because he will have the same problem so convinced him to buy the shirt. HE ENDED UP SPENDING 1000!!!! Needless to say everything was returned. Has anyone else heard of someone buying a tuxedo or am I the only one thinking it''s crazy? He will never wear it again nor will he wear the suit since hes in construction!! Anyone have any suggestions on other tux places?

That seems ridiculous. I have heard of people purchasing a tux, but only if they had other events they could were it too.
I don't know where you are looking to go for the tux, but I went to Gino's in Farmingdale and couldn't be happier with their service so far.

on 109 literally across the street from republic airport
GO THERE! They are awesome! If they were closer to where we live, we would have booked there. FH has the same problem and they were willing to take it in as much as possible. Also try Karako's on 110 near Extreme Fitness. We got the tuxes from there (the one in East Northport) and they were the cheapest around and they still did all the alterations...
Good luck!

Re: Tux Aggravation!
My FI is very big in the shoulder chest area and small waisted and they never mentioned it being a problem to us. It does make sense though because we always have a problem with dress shirts fitting weird...don't they tailor it for you? It does seem crazy to drop money on a tux when he will never wear it again!

Re: Tux Aggravation!
my fiance bought his tux but because he wanted to buy one, not because the store told him to
that just sounds ridiculous! i would definitely try somewhere else - try tuxedo park in carle place too

Re: Tux Aggravation!
The hubby bought his tuxedo also, but that's because he also wanted one, and at that time they had a great buy one get one free off everything at the store. So him, his best man and the two dads all bought theirs. It worked for us because we had a smaller party..but I agree they shouldn't have told him he had to buy one! That's crazy --- my husband also has big shoulders but they never told him he couldn't rent one.
