Re: tux or suit??
Other than the obvious, a tux is a more formal look than a suit.

The most obvious way to tell a tuxedo is that the pants have a satin strip going down the side of each leg.

That also depends on the tux! FH tux doesn't have the strip.

I agree. FH's tux doesnt have the stripe down the leg either.
A tuxedo could look like anything and be any style, it could also look more like a suit than a tux. They are just generally a dress code for a formal evening event. I dont think there is much differance between a suit and a tux the differance lies in the fact that a tuxedo is just considered to be more formal attire.

Re: tux or suit??
Fh's dad is insisting on wearing a suit (a dark one at least). He just can't justify renting a tux he can't keep or won't wear again. I'm okay with it cuz I'm not obsessed with rules...but I hope it won't be a big deal or look weird! Good thing he's the only 'Dad.' But then I wonder...do my brothers in law, who are walking me down the aisle, wear a tux or suit? ugh! FH and his best men plan on wearing tuxes..ugggh.
