Our GM's shirts, jackets, and pants are the same as my FI's tux, but the vests and ties are different (FI-ivory and GM-light grey).

Re: tux question
I have seen where they do match, but I wouldn't suggest it. He should be able to stand out like the bride stands out form her bm's, but if it's anyone to match w/ the groom I would say it's the Best man

I am having all the groomsmen with a gray vest, my fiance with a white vest, the dads in a black vest, and the ringbearer matching my fiance

Re: tux question
my tux place had them coordinating, but not matching. They all had the same tux, pattern of vest was the same, but the color of vest and the ties were different.
Groom=platinum vest Groomsmen - silver vest grandfather/daves father/mybrother = charcoal.
All ties were different but complimentary
can't to get some pics back so i can post

Re: tux question
I'm not doing tuxes, but this is how I would do it if I were. The ushers would all have the same tux, but the GM would a have a slightly fancier tux. The best man and the father of the bride, groom, grandfathers and other male members of the family would have the same tux, maybe different colors if you want to show whos in what family, maybe the brides family might have a black vest and the BM and grooms family might go for a Blue. Then the groom has his own tuxes to seperate him from all the rest.

Does the BM/Ushers tux have to match the Groom?
IMHO, it is better if they don't. The groom needs to stand out. I am planning (we'll see how it goes) on groom & BM in cumberbun, and groomsmen in vest. Groom with bow-tie (his choice), and groomsmen in regular tie.

Re: tux question
No. It has to be different. Only the ring bearer has to match.
