Tux Question

Tux Question

So I found out my firm's client is Jos A. Bank - the men's suiting store. I believe they only sell tuxes, not rent them. BUT, the discount we get there is something absurd - I think it is 50%.

So, my question is, if the discount brings the price of buying a tux down to the same as renting one, should I just ask my guys to buy them? If they are never going to use them again maybe it is pointless, but it just somehow seems so worth it to me if it would really end up the same price.

What do you think?

I guess it really just depends on each guy, and what they would prefer to do. You can just give them the option and let them each decide...

if its the same price then yes. Just depends because many tuxedos are pretty expensive to buy, some are 800-1k and even with 50% discount it will still be more than the price of renting it. Find out first how much their tuxes are to buy then i guess determine what is the best option

I think if it's the same price to bux a tux with the discount- rather than rent... absolutely concider that! However, make sure to add everything in- tux, vest, tie, shirt, cufflinks, shoes... HTH!! PS- my GM's are renting & my FH is going to purchase a tux- so that's always an option for you too

I think if it's like the same price then yeah why not just have them buy them?? Then they will have a tux!!

very good point. Along with a tux theres the shoes, vest, tie, shirt. All of this is included in the rental price but even if the guys buy the tux then they still have alot to buy on their own. Shoes, shirt, tie can be more than a tux rental

For your FH it might be a great option bc its his wedding, for the GM it might be different

GREAT POINT!!!!

I will have to look more into the accessories and whatnot. AND, if we decide not to go the buying route, maybe then I can at least take advantage of the discounts and we could give them as gifts the ties, cuff links, etc.!

thats a great idea to use your discount for the GM gifts, no matter what you decide to do whether they buy it or rent it, definitely use the discount to get the guys something from there.

That's a good idea to give some of the accessories as a gift... Also, your FH, if he decides to buy can rent just the tie/ vest to go along with the guys. Many of my guy friends who rented a tux- wish they bought one for the wedding....

I think you should let them decide....

Re: Tux Question

I just looked at the Jos. A. Bank website, and I think you guys are totally right, the actual TUX part would likely be affordable, but then you'd have to separately buy the shirt, tie, vest, shoes, and cuff links!! That won't make sense financially, but to get them the ties and cuff links there I think will totally make sense.

And, now that I know about the discount, I think I'll start spoiling my Dad a little bit. He's a lawyer and he always needs to be in a suit, but he HATES shopping and tries to avoid it at all costs. Today he told me he wants new shoes but he doesn't want to go get them. I think I'll swing by Jos. A. Bank and get him some shoes!
