tux question

tux question

ughhh tuxes aren't going to be easy. we went today to two places. FH only like two things at men warehouse and they were $150. seems to be a lot.

We went to another little store on Queens Blvd which we liked better, but they were like $150-170. Isn't this a lot?

The big question is my girls are wearing black dresses with ivory sashes. They will have purple flowers (maybe pink with the purple, or maybe ivory with the purple)...what color vests/ties should they have?? It doesn't have to be black right? dont really like that. Would purple look weird?

too many decisions...i think im starting to get stressed

Re: tux question

$150 is average, as long as it includes tux, shirt, vest, tie, and shoes.

Purple is fine, or even silver (if you don't want black).

So the purple wont look stupid since their dresses are black? I dont know why this is making me so crazy right now! I said silver, but FH doesn't like that.

Oh sorry, I mis-read. I thought your BM dresses were purple. Honestly then I'd either stick with the black or either a light or dark gray if FH doesn't like silver.

Thank you. So black vest AND black tie? seems so boring I gotta try to convince him to go with silver hahah

Re: tux question

Yup I'd do both. I don't think it's boring, actually I think it's classic and timeless. As a matter of fact, that's what we're doing

You could always do a black vest with a silver tie.

i agree...i think the black tie will look very nice and sharp i actually just saw pictures from a friends wedding where they did black ties and it looked very nice.

OK, thank you..maybe I'm just panicking. I dont know what is wrong with me, but I'm doubting every decision I made...like getting black bm dresses....everything Starting crying on the way home.

Thanks! Anyone have pictures? I just feel like it's going to look so DARK since the girls are in black too.

Re: tux question

maybe go somewhere where they are going to show you and explain what will look best.

when FH and I went we had noooo clue what we were doing we explained the BM dresses and everything fell into place. There were some ideas we thought would look great but the sales ppl know best and should be honest. We also had a few things to pick from that would all look good which made it even better.

Maybe try a few more places....the tuxes FH picked with everything is 150 but FH is putting 50 as part of the gift for his GMs so it would be as bad maybe you can do something like that?

where are you located?

ALWAYS black.

Let me ask you, which looks better and more timeless, this:

or this:

Call me crazy, but the choice is obvious.

Re: tux question

Agreed. black... but I can't help but think 'waiter' with the bowtie.... I think I'll have to get past that too, though, huh?

That's because tux places will often give you those pretied bowties, which look like crap. If you go with a self-tie bow tie, it looks elegant.

Same here... I actually don't like the colored vests in most cases, I like the black vest and tie, and they will have a colored flower in the bout to match the girls' colors.

Thanks. We need this. The sales people we met weren't too helpful. We are in Queens. Where did you go? Thank you!

Re: tux question

Our tuxes were $150. DH was also in a wedding in April and his tux was $150 as well. Both were rented from Men's Wearhouse. That's about on par with what the BM dresses cost as well.

ETA: I think purple is just fine to use. I wouldn't use a lavender or like a Barney purple though. lol! Or I do like the pp suggestions of silver!

Edited again to add:

That vest that BlackTieGuy posted was Barney purple! It doesn't have to be like that! Look at this one! Classy!

When we were discussing colors, one of the groomsmen and one of the bridesmaids were over, and we were discussing colors. The BM suggested purple, and the GM said 'no barney purple'

I think we're going with black dresses for the ladies, and black tux with black vest and black tie (no bow tie) for the guys.
