First I have to say, I am making every process of this wedding planning into a complicated decision a(as if it's my last decision in lfe! I hope I am not alone!) LOL
Ok, my latest dilemna--
We went tuxedo shopping. I hate them all! LOL My fiance always wears fitted slim suits. The do not rent this type of tux.
Could we buy one for him and rent everyone else's?
Also wanted to do him in navy blue- and everyone else in a light gray? But my mom thinks thats a horrible idea! LOL I need opinions on this please! :)
Thank you once again ladies!
:)

TUX QUESTION - Long Island Weddings
Don't know about the colors, but that's exactly what we're doing for FH in terms of him buying his and everyone else renting. FH wears a suit every day and is very particular; he'll want his tux fitted to a T.

What color are your BM dresses? That may affect how the colors work.

Ahh!! Maybe u ladies can help...
My bridemaids are in cobalt blue. It's a winter wedding.
My room is silver and white.
Choices:

2. groom in navy- everyone else in a silver gray (my mom thinks no on this bc it is winter)
3. everyone in a charcoal gray
Thanks again. :)

Re: TUX QUESTION
Ok so I rented tuxes for 7 years and I saw it all.
Color wise it's your call and brides nowadays do so many different things. I will say that not in any one of the thousands of wedding parties that I helped, that did the groom in a different tuxedo did it look good as whole. Even when the groom purchased and the guys rented. The groom should stand out but not be completely different.
When one tux is purchased and the others are rented there is a NOTICEABLE difference (seen by the naked eye and amplified by photographer's cameras) in the quality of the material and (if they're all black) the dye lot. It makes the others look shabby.
As far as the fit they do make slim cut tuxedo rentals. Men's wearhouse's Vera Wang comes in a slimmer cut. Also two button jackets, and flat front pants will give that slimmer cut.
As far as gray and navy blue. Gray is considered a less formal color tuxedo, so the feel and location of your wedding is important. Traditionally gray is strictly for day time weddings, but again we can do whatever we want nowadays. Also important is the color of your dress light gray and ivory will clash but charcoal gray and ivory look warmer together.
I would do the Vera wang in gray in the slim cut for everyone navy accents for the guys and either something to match your dress for him or gray accents as well. However if your FH wears a suit everyday it might be nice to see him and them in solid black tuxes with the guys having blue accents
Edited to add: the only reason I said something about him wearing a suit everyday is that the grays and navy's always ended up looking more suit like than tuxedo-esque lol hth sorry for the long post

TUX QUESTION - Long Island Weddings
why not have all of the guys in charcoal gray? the groomsmen can wear cobalt blue vests and ties to match the bridesmaids and your FH can wear the same color tux, but with a traditional black vest to stand out

TUX QUESTION - Long Island Weddings
I too hate tuxedos, the shiney shoes are so ugly but FH and the boys will be wearing them. They are going to Amityville Men Shop, it's not as factory as mens warehouse (hoping I don't offend anyone we had a bad experience there last year) and I felt like the tux wasn't as boxy

Re: TUX QUESTION
Sorry my fm isn't working :/ No problem!! Black and blue is totally do-able! But if it really bothers you there was a charcoal gray vest at Men's Wearhouse called rio that really compliments blues. What you could do is keep everyone black tuxes, the groom in ivory on ivory vest tie and shirt, it's really clean and very elegant, and put the guys in charcoal gray vests and ties. Go to the men's Wearhouse in lake grove on 347 work only with Josh. The Vera wang comes in black too and a slim fit!!! I'm not selling them, I don't work for them anymore but I am getting my tuxes from them. Tell them Nicole sent you, I was the operations manager there for years. The Vera is more expensive but there worth it. Black tie had a reputation in the industry for dropping the ball and not caring once they got your money. Hth and good luck and dont stress

TUX QUESTION - Long Island Weddings
My hubby and guys wore the Vera wang slim fits from men's wearhouse and looked great! DH only wears slim fitting suits everyday as well and was super picky about the tux shopping process but thankfully he loved the veras. We went with the black because we had a very formal Saturday night wedding, but the charcoal was a gorgeous color as well.

totally recommend Amityville Mens Shop!! They are expert tailors so the fit will be impeccable. My husband also bought a custom fit shirt so that helped as well.

TUX QUESTION - Long Island Weddings
If he wears them all the time I would say probably have him purchase his own then. This way he can get it exactly how he likes. But as far as the coloring I think you should do them all in grey. This will look really nice with the girls dresses. Then you can add nice touches of blue to their vests or ties.
We used Foresto's in Mineola. He was very nice and helpful.
