I need some feedback. FH and I just got into an argument over tuxes.
He wants the fathers (there are three of them) to pick out their own tuxes in whatever style they want. I am of the opinion that they should be the same as the bridal parties' tuxes....or all of the fathers should at least be wearing the same tux as each other. Am I being an unreasonable bride to want them to match....I feel like fathers usually match the bridal party or at least each other no?
Please let me know...I just feel like the choose your own style will look terrible, but I wanted your feedback.

we did all matching. I wanted it that way...but ive seen it the other way and it looks fine

We did all the same tuxedos...Groom wore black tie/black vest. bridal party black vest/pink tie fathers wore black vest silver tie.

Nope I was told the dads should match the moms not the bp. But you can do whatever you want.

We have awhile but I know my dad will be wearing whatever the heck he wants. FFIL may match the groomsmen, but even then its doubtful, I bet the fathers are going to do their own thing. Thats not to say that its unreasonable for you to request it, if thats what you had envisioned, as its not an off the wall idea. However, I think it has more to do with you relaying this request to the fathers and not FH.

They don't need to match the BP bc theyre not really the BP theyre the parents.. if you have concerns of them picking something ridiculous maybe put them in the same style vest in a different color so it still looks uniform.

our dads wore the same tux as the groomsmen but their vests and ties were a different color... gm were in burgundy and the dads were in silver

Thanks ladies! I just wanted to get an idea of what others are doing since my dads were waiting for my FH to pick so I assumed they were supposed to match. I think we are going to try to match the mothers as a compromise.

Most weddings I have been to the Fathers have matched the BP. I never understood it though b/c they are not in a picture with them. I think FFIL will get the tux with the guys though but it's your preference.

I've seen it both ways. My sister had the fathers tuxes matching the bp. We are having the GM wear suits, so the dads will just be wearing whatever suit they like. If they want to match thats fine, if not, no biggie for me. But I think that either way is fine!

my father and fil were in diff suits... it really didnt matter.... they wore ones they bought bc it was easiest for them...

Our dads matched each other, not the bridal party. They wore black vests so it would match both moms.

I originally wanted them to match, but then my father went and bought his own tux and FIL used one he already owned. They stuck with the standard black and white, as I asked, so FIL wore a black vest and tie. My dad wanted to be different so he just wore a black tie, no vest.

Our dads wore different tuxes...I don't think they need to match eachother or the BP. I don't like everything to be matchy, matchy...jmo though.

1. Nobody has to match anybody, not even members of the BP with each other. I don't think it's a terrible idea for the fathers to wear similar style tuxes, but they certainly don't have to.
2. If they're wearing tuxes, no guys should 'match' any girls, as the tuxes should only be black and white
