My FH & I went to start looking at tuxes last night so that he could start to get an idea about what he's looking for...I think we're more confused now though! lol Anyways, he liked 2 different arrangements & I was hoping that we could get some opinions:
1) My girls are wearing claret, but he doesn't really like the color red, so he was leaning more towards a silver or grey for the vests & ties. We're doing a very fall-themed wedding though (oranges, reds, browns & yellows)...do you think the silver will be ok or will it contrast too much?
2) He also really likes the idea of wearing black shirts instead of white (with the grey/silver vests for the GM). Our ceremony's at 9:30am & the CH at 12:30pm though...do you think all black is a little much for a day time wedding?
I want him to be happy & comfortable, so I'm really not opposed to either thing...I'm just a little unsure. If it would look too weird, then I'd rather he go more traditional (which he said he'd be fine with doing too). I don't know...help?!?

Re: Tux Questions: a little long
Instead of silver, how about something more gold toned. It is a warmer hue and ties in with the fall colors better than silver.
IMO, all black is a litte too dramatic for daytime wedding. It is not a good look in formal wear.

I totally agree!

I don't like how silver photographs personally (JMHO), so I would go with grey vests.
All the guys are wearing black tuxes with charcoal vests - my BM dresses are navy.

Re: Tux Questions: a little long
Thanks ladies! I hinted at going with a gold tone last night (I even showed him a swatch), but he wasn't too into it. However, it was busy, so we couldn't get a professional opinion. When we go back I'll bring it up again & maybe try to get the salesman to persuade him to go gold lol
Thank you VERY much for your honest opinions. I had a feeling that it might look a little 'off' if we did it his way (considering the other colors that we're using & the time of day), but I didn't want to 'push' the issue any more unless I was sure that my reasoning was correct & that it wasn't just my personal opinion

I think it's fine if the tuxes don't match the BM dresses. Honestly, that look isn't my taste at all and it's getting less popular.
It's just a matter of taste - no one will closely analyze your tux choice, I promise!

I agree that a gold or bronzy tone vest will go better with your colors than silver. Maybe even champagne.

I'm getting married in the fall and doing claret also. I want my FH in a white tie and vest and the groomsmen in grey. I think silver would be fin too. I would have to see a picture of a tux with a black shirt though. It might be nice.

Re: Tux Questions: a little long
We are the weekend right after you and we are also using claret... since my dress is ivory we are thinking FH will have an ivory vest and the rest of the guys will have red. not sure yet on black or white shirts cause like you we are in the AM...so ummm yeah that's where we are at lol

As a color in general, I am definitely not a fan of gold, but with the color scheme you have, I think it would be stunning! If you find a pattern without a lot of stuff going on I think it woul look gorgeous!!! Good Luck

Ooh - I like that idea. I'm wearing ivory too, so maybe I can convince him to wear that & then he won't mind the claret as much on the rest of the guys. I think that either claret or a gold color would really be the nicest (with white shirts), so I'll discuss it with him...we've got plenty of time, so maybe one of those colors will grow on him between now & then...I hope!
