TUXEDO help!

TUXEDO help!

So I'm starting to think about tuxes and still don't really know what color to have them in (vests I mean, obviously the tux itself will be black)

my girls are wearing navy. I don't want matchy matchy so no navy. The other colors at the wedding are ivory and si;ver (BMs are wearing silver shoes and may have silver-y shawls)

So I was thinking either ivory or silver/gray. Thoughts?

I thought of silver right away before I even got to the part that its part of your color scheme.

So Silver!

We're having our GM were black vests and ties and FH is wearing an off white (my gown is off white) vest and tie.

Re: TUXEDO help!

Just to throw this out there, another option is for your FH to wear a white pique vest, that is typically worn with white tie, but is the most formal vest available for black tie.

http://www.finetuxedos.com/tuxedo-vests/solid-tuxedo-vests/white-pique-backless-vest.html

Typically for black tie he would wear this with a black self-tie bowtie, but I think a white pique self-tie bowtie looks fine as well.

As for the other guys, most people know that I am vehemently anti colored vests. That said, I think it's great that you are not doing the matchy matchy thing, and that this is really a much better option.

Also, if you have silver as a color, maybe look into getting shirt studs and cufflinks that are silver or silver and onyx.

okay you have to be some sort of tuxedo vendor can you please just out yourself. It's a little creepy that you are on here if you are already married (which I believe you said you were) and just taking an interest in the wedding plans of thousands of LI and NYC girls.

to the OP I would go with Silver

well if you are a vendor and you certainly seem to be from MANY posts regarding tuxedos (please your avatar is a freaking tux and your name is black tie guy) you should be posting on the vendors helping brides boards not the general ones as it is against the rules.

Hmm idk if this is what you're looking for....however, personally I'm a fan of the groom in a white vest and the other guys in a black vest.

he's pretty useful. not a day goes by where i don't see a tuxedo question on these boards. it doesn't hurt to have an expert's opinion.

I agree that he's not a vendor -- his links are to all different sources and he's recommended a variety of brand names. And even though I disagree with him fairly often, it's nice having him around. He's like the formal attire version of a grammar stickler

(sorry, BTG... is it bad form to talk about you like you're not reading?)

Thanks!
