Tuxedo Places Reviews - Went to 4 places!!!!!!!!!!
I will apologize now if this is a bit long but FH and I went to 4 tuxedo places this weekend and I wanted to share with everyone our experiences since I know some of you are up to this part.
Tuxedo Park (Carle Place, Next to Bridal Reflections) - We found this place to be awesome! FH was able to try on a ton of different things, not only for him but for the GM. They were super helpful and I felt they had a wide range of styles. Everything was top of the line, good quality, designer stuff so with that you get the cost. Based on the other places it is more expensive. They are giving us a discount if we choose to go with them but I feel they are more expensive b/c you are getting a better quality tuxedo and the great service.
Proper Attire (Centereach, Behind Bridal Suite of Centereach) - Rachel is the manager and was super nice and helpful but I felt their options were extremely limited. Most of the stuff they had were from the bridesmaid dresses lines (such as after six) she (along w/ 1 other place we went to) also told us NOT to do something that Tuxedo Park said we could do and that we loved. I think it's all a matter of opionion but I also think it's b/c they have limited stock. FH and I are going back Saturday for him to try stuff on and that kind of annoys me. I would have liked him to tried things on there but they don't have that much stock so they ordered things for him. Cost is great - a lot less expensive then Tuxedo Park.
Rogers Tuxedo (Centereach, right down the road from Proper Attire) - Almost the same stock as Proper Attire, they had a lot of the bridesmaid dress lines (such as after six) but the guy we met with (I cant remember his name) was super helpful about the tuxedo industry as a whole. Same as Proper Attire we would have to go back after he ordered some items for FH to try stuff on - so for here and Proper Attire all we had is looking at headless maniquins. FH is VERY visual so that didn't sell him too much. Price was good too - it was right around the same as Proper Attire.
Men's Wearhouse (not sure what town but it doesn't matter) - It was flipping horrible!!! The girl we met with was maybe 20 years old, dropped a book in front of us and said 'this is what we have.' I asked if they had any of the tuxedo's in stock to see what they look like in person and they had about 5, and none of which were the ones we were interested in. When she asked for the color of the bridesmaid dresses I said 'dusty rose' and she brought me bright red vests!?!?! I also didn't like that if you chose one vest the only tie option was the one that was provided, nothing else was available. We went in knowing some friends who have had issues with MW so maybe we were jaded but we spent maybe 10 minutes and left. I did not feel comfortable with them at all and the selection didn't work for us. I know some of you are using them, so I'm not trying to rain on your parade b/c it really couldhave been the one store we went to but it was enough to seal the deal for us.
The result: I think we are going to go with Tuxedo Park but that will be decided after this Saturday's fashion show at Proper Attire LOL. You kinda have to weigh what you want - better quality, service and selection for more cost vs less quality, service and selection for lower cost
HTH's some of you ladies - good luck! sorry it was long!
