Tuxedo questions... please HELP!!!

Tuxedo questions... please HELP!!!

I need some opinions here, ladies. Please help me. I am having a major 'disagreement' with FH over this.

FH went out yesterday with his parents, without me even knowing about it, and BOUGHT his tuxedo. I am SOOOO upset, and for a couple of reasons. First of all, I think I should have been at least consulted in the matter. I have very strong opinions about the tuxedos, and I feel like he completely disregarded my feelings. He just did what he wanted to do.

Second, I think he should be wearing the same tuxedo as the GM's at the wedding, just with a different color vest. Will/did your FH/DH wear the same tux style, or did he wear something else entirely?

The third reason I am upset that he did this is that I don't even like the tux he got. I mean, it's just a simple black, run-of-the-mill tux, but the jacket has only one button, and I just don't like the way it looks. He thinks it looks slimming on him, I don't. I also don't think it will look good on some of the GM's (going back to the whole question of should they be wearing the same thing).

What do you all think? Am I over-reacting? Should he have asked me? Should they all be wearing the same thing? Do any of you NOT like the one-button jackets as much as me?

Thanks for the help.

While I can agree with all your points, consider you gte to pick out whatever you want to wear with no input from him ...

I don't really agree with you. How would you have liked it if he'd had so much to say about your gown? He may want to consider the style of his tux when chosing ones for the GM & maybe you should go with him for that. I'm sure the consultant at the tux store can help. I woouldn't start WW3 over this. Hope you calm down.

I'm sorry...but I have to agree with the other ladies. What if he saw your dress and said, I'm sorry...but I don't like it. If he likes it and he feels good in it...then that's what should matter. I'm sure you will both look great on you big day! Good luck.

I understand what you all are saying, but shouldn't he be matching the GM's? I always thought they were all supposed to have the same tux? Maybe I'm the wrong one here. I don't know anymore. I am so stressed every little thing has me more on edge than usual, I guess.

no, as long as they match I actually think it will be nice that his is different, he will stand out as he should!

ETA: my FH, my dad and FH's dad are all buying the same tuxes. we have not decided on what the GM will be wearing, but I will make sure they match!

don't worry about it. i think buying a tux your FH likes is most important. i know my FH hates the 'rent-a-tux feel'...

I have to agree with the other girls - if he likes it and feels good in it, that should be what is important - imo.

My FH is not wearing the same tux as his GM's. It's FH's day just as it is mine so we thought it would be nice for him to stand out a little too. They're all wearing black tuxes...his will just be different. I guess it's personal taste.

aww, I must say I feel kinda bad for your Fh...maybe he was all proud of getting his tux...its a big event for him too..he went with his parents...not a big deal...its maybe something he wanted his dad to consult with....don;t get offended...

He does not have to have the same tux as the other guys AT ALL...

Let it slide, calm down, apologize and give him a big kiss and hug

I think it's fine if he wears something different--your dress doesn't match the BM's does it?

ALso, it's such a great investment to buy a tux--think of all the money he'll save in the long run!

I agree with what everyone else is saying - as long as he is not picking out a powder-blue tux with ruffles - he should pick out his tux - maybe he wants it to be a surprise - guys certainly don't have as much choice or fun picking out their wedding outfit! Also - what someone else said about what if he said something about your dress - you wouldn't want that!! MY FI HATES tulle and he has told me that a few times!!! I really waned to try on tulle wedding dresses - but i didn't bother - why try on something I know he doesn't like - I would have been better off not knowing!!

I'm sorry I don't agree with you. My FH and I had a discussion before the planning started and he informed me that this is his wedding too and he wanted to have an say in the planning. He picked out his tux, but asked me for my opinion. He made a good choice. He will be wearing a 4 button tux and his GM will be wearing a 3 button tux. (No they do not have to wear the same tux) I asked him if he wanted me in an particular style dress and he said No whatever you pick will be fine. I know this (wedding) is a girl's dream come true, but we have to remember it's their day too.

Re: Tuxedo questions... please HELP!!!

I think i would be upset that he went and made a big purchase like that without talking to me.....i mean, it is both of your's wedding and i'm sure he was aware when you were going to go out and buy your dress, right?

my FH is going to be wearing the same tux as his groomsmen....but with a different color vest.

I dont' think this is worth fighting over though....

I did that about 20 minutes later, only because I felt bad for reacting the way I did. I still felt I was right, but I shouldn't have yelled at him like that. But apparently you all agree with him. I have apologized to him again, and I told him you were all on his side and I was wrong. He said to send you his thanks and one of these . I told him I would go with whatever you all told me. Thanks again for the help. I have been corrected.
