Tuxes and Bridesmaids dresses

Hi girls, I am usually a silent reader on the board so first I wanted to thank you girls for all the wonderful information and all the help you have been giving me on planning my wedding. (Weddings are hard to plan!!!)

My FH just asked me a question and I had no idea how to answer him so I told him I'd get back to him because I thought you girls might know. For tuxes, do all the men in the BP wear the same tux or can they wear their own tux and then wear the same vest and ties?

Also, I have a kind of weird question. I wanted to shop for bridesmaids dresses without my BM's (because I know all of them will complain about what they do and dont like), but I realllllyyyy dont want to go alone. FH offered to come but I dont know if that would be awkward in the store. Can I bring him with me? HELP!!!

Re: Tuxes and Bridesmaids dresses

I think it all depends on you and your fh...the groomsmen usually wear/rent the same tux. I would have no problem if I needed help choosing the bm dresses and fh came with me because its really the brides dress that's a secret, but some people are against it, so again it all depends on you.

It's really up to you.

I don't think that it is a big deal taking your fh dress shopping. If you trust his taste and don't want to go alone, bring him alone.

As for the tux I think that it is up to you. Most people rent the same tux but if you think they will all listen and have appropriate tuxes go for it.

Good Luck

Thanks girls. I'm definitely going to bring FH dress shopping, I do trust his taste and he likes being involved.

I agree about the men usually wearing the same style. And when it came to choosing the BM dress, FH was a help all the way. I would send him pics I liked and we would discuss. Plus, he helped me to choose the color They are helpful sometimes

I took him to Bridal Reflections last night in Carle Place. They wouldnt let him in, they said men arent allowed to help you look through the dresses!!! I had to take the dresses I liked into the waiting area for him to see and I only ended up kind of liking one dress! But he was helpful and he's a sweetheart, did not even complain.

As for tuxes. New question - do they all have to wear the same shoes as well? Would it look weird if they wore their own shoes?

As far as tuxes, it's really your choice but when we went shopping the tuxedo places always say it looks nicer to have one look.

I didn't take my BM's shopping either. I really didn't know what I wanted look wise but had a budget. I didn't want to bring the girls because I didn't want 7 other opinions and no one agreeing. So I started looking online. I emailed images to my MOH to get an opinion. Ended up falling in love with a dress on Nordstrom.com, showed it to my MOH, she liked it and ordered 2 of every size. All the extras I sent back.

Re: Tuxes and Bridesmaids dresses

I heard in some places the guys can only be out in the waiting area because girls are falling out of their dresses because of the weird sample sizes. So I guess you could always just walk out into the waiting area?

Can you bring just your MOH or a regular friend who isn't in your BP but you trust? Or the BM that isn't a pain in the a$$?

As for the tuxes, I would inspect them first. A lot of tuxes look similar but there are variations and you'd want to make sure that they're not too different. Have them all come over with the tux or send you photos if OOT and then make a decision. I didn't know that many guys owned tuxes! Only one of our GM does so we're trying to find a tux that kind of matches his.
